  1. I totally agree, but one more thing to take into consideration is the environment that you are driving in. If you are in colder temperatures the lower the viscosity of the oil will suit you well. And the opposite goes for hotter temperatures. See the link below for a complete breakdown of how this works. http://www.silverlakeautorepair.com/what-is-oil-viscosity-and-is-it-important-in-cold-weather/

  3. I am replacing the starter on my 91 LS400 in two days. I already have a good idea of the process and how painful it will be and have everything I need for it. However, the one thing that I am unclear on is which gaskets I will need before I start. I know if I break the seal I may as well replace the gaskets since they will likely wear out soon after. Can anyone help me with which gaskets I will need to replace during the process?
  4. I have a 91 LS400 and I recently started having problems with the instrument cluster. The speedometer works intermittently sometimes reading the correct speed, no speed, or will show double the speed i am traveling at. All of the lights (i.e o/d, check engine, traction control, etc.) flash at random times and then go off randomly. The only thing that is not messing up it the Tachometer. The cruise control works but shuts off every time the speedometer changes position randomly. I am thinking it may be a problem with the ECU since the cluster seems to be able to operate all of it's functions with incorrect information. Thanks in advance!
  5. You may also want to check your distributor and your alternator if the engine made a lugging sound before it died. If it was fine and just died immediately it is most likely something electrical. Something as simple as a loose connection or a bad relay could cause this.
