We just drove to and from Zion National Park. We spent 12 hours driving each way. When we got out of the car both there and when we returned, we felt motion sickness. The feeling was a little bit like when you have been on a boat all day and then go home.

It felt pretty awful.

Anyone else experience this? We have a 2010 ES 350.

Any suggestions?

Goodness!! Twelve hours! Are you bragging or complaining?

We do something like this driving our 2011 ES350 2000 miles in 2 days every 3 months, but its only because the Lexus is such a great car that we can do it, let alone feeling a little motion sickness.

It's a lot of time in a car. We're supposed to feel something.

What exactly were your symptoms? I drive non-stop to Florida from Ohio many times. But I get stop and get out and move around and eat in a restaurant etc. You are probably not stopping enough. Also, make sure you hydrate enough preferably with fruit juices or bottled water.

If that fails try motion sickness wrist bands. If that fails...shorten your trips.

David,

Did you feel anything like motion sickness when you got out of the car? Ours was severe.

I've driven 9 hours nonstop in my '10 and felt as good as I did at the start. I stopped to gas, eat, hydrate along the way. How clean is your interior? Not implying you keep a dirty car, but is there anything inside the car that could cause that?

bfelton,

I may be off base here but somewhere in the past (many years ago) I remember being told that adding static strips that are tied to the frame of the car and touch the ground (to ground out static electricity buildup) helped to prevent motion sickness. You see them from time to time hanging down from the rear frame of a car, an inch or so wide black plastic (?) strip with a red stripe.

12 hours!!!!! You evidently didn't have any women in the car. I have to stop and get a Sonic tea, then stop at the next rest area. :-)

I'm going to be driving my IS to Charleston, SC from Memphis, TN in September. I'm going to enjoy the drive. Stop where and when I want.
