autorestorer59 Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 OK, Replaced the starter with a new one....not reman'd or rebuilt...NEW. Has new battery, checked starter relay.. have continuatity.Battery terminals clean and tight. Reset anti-theft by cycling drivers door key. Still wont crank over with old or new starter installed. Hear relays working fine. Now what? any suggestions where to look next beside taking it to the dealer. Thanks
autorestorer59 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Well took the intake back off. Tested the starter by Battery+ to solenoid. Its good. Next test solenoid wire to relay. Its good. Next with relay removed and everything back together ran wire from relay terminal to Battery+ and key in the on position. It started...YEAH!!!!! So figure it is the electrical portion of the ignition switch or the ECU. Ended up driving to the shop to let them have a go at it. (***A note: You must replace the relay after starting or once you put it into gear the engine stalls out.***) Read the ignition switch is a PITA and diagnosing the ECU is over my head.
