Driving The Ls460 Hard

Recommended Posts

So I kinda have a funny/stupid question. Just got a 08 LS460. A buddy of mine that has a BMW 750i came by the other night and wanted to see what my LS could do. We took it on the track and floored it (didnt red line it but got the RPM quiet high) in power mode and took some sharp turns at about 50-70mph. The other night it was fun, but now I am feeling a bit paranoid/guilty and wondering if this car wont be damaged in the long run for it. I know that even though it has alot of power its known more for luxury then being sporty. I kinda feel like the wheel is a little looser but that could just be in my head. We didnt do anything to crazy to the car, never took it off the road. Flooring this car here and there and taking sharp turns at high speeds (on an irregular basis) shouldnt hurt it right? Any thoughts?

NO way...hell I floor my GX every once in awhile just to see what it will do. I am sure it is fine. If you ran it hard all of the time redlining it and hard stops over and over I am sure eventually something would give but that is to be expected. I can tell you this much...I would have a LS now if it wasn't for the tax break I got for this GX and with the two little ones the space is nice...and if I had one I would run it every once in awhile.

I was encouraged to put my foot down whilst test driving a LS600 so I am sure your 460 suffered no damage, they do have a rev limiter and the transmission is fully protected against change downs at speeds above the normal rev range.
