Sexus ES300
When going over a bump in the road i hear a slightly loud/deep sound from the front right of my car. It started out fairly quiet and not very noticeable but now even when my music is up you can hear it. Any ideas? struts, shocks, motor mounts? any of those would cause this? Im about to change the timing belt so i figured id get on this during the change.
rlx101
put front of the car on stands take off the wheels and examine suspension visually, see if anything is loose, worn out bushings, leaky shocks etc. could be as simple as worn out sway bar bushing... kashi125
How many miles on the car? If it is above 120K and struts/strut mounts have never been replaced, it is probably your strut mounts. When you replace the strut mounts, replace the struts too. It is about $200 more in parts for OEM struts, but nothing extra for labor since they have to take out struts to get to the strut mounts. I replaced front struts and mounts on my 99 ES300. Lexus wanted to charge me $1400 total. I paid $450 total. $150 for labor at a trusted mechanic and $300 for OEM Lexus struts and mounts from online Lexus dealer.
