freemanmw Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Talked to the dealer today (Johnson Lexus in Raleigh) and the parts department said there was no Lexus hitch available for my 2006 RX400h. I found a hitch mentioned here and through Sewell online with the part number PT228-48045. My 400h is listed as having the towing prep package, but the dealer parts guy said that didn't matter, Lexus doesn't make a hitch for it. Anybody else run into this? Has something changed? Thanks!!

Dont know why they would say its not avalable. I purchased mine at Lexus of Wayzeta in Minnesota
cduluk Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I've seen pictures of 06 rx400h's with tow hitch's...
RX400h Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 We had our dealership install a (what I believe is a Lexus-approved) hitch on our 06 RX400h, so I would have to say that your dealership is either ignorant or just doesn't want to install hitches.
Gryphon Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 You have the correct part number and, yes, it does fit the RX400h. Your dealer is an idiot. Tom
rgray Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I have and purchased the hitch from Sewell for a 2008 and it is the same I believe. The towing package has the all important electrical interface required so you are good to go. The factory install does have you discard some of the undercarriage plastic cover that gets in the way of the hitch but the hitch is solid and the electrical plugs right in and keeps it all water tight.
