06 Rx400h Cold Weather Mileage
Barefoot Bob replied to fox4's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
I have the same year, make and model. I live in southern Minnesota so I get that same weather. I have found the same issues that you have. When its cold out it seems the engine has to run that much more so the milage is down. I did however find out that in summer keeping the speed down at 60mph or below the milage gets alot better. That is unless you have one heck of a tail wind then its fine to run a bit faster. -

Bluetooth And Nav Active While On The Run..
Barefoot Bob replied to Agosin's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
Well its got to be the version disk I have then that is the problem. Because I did cut the right wire in the passenger kick pannel for the nav and it still blacks out when moving. But the blue tooth does work. When I purchased this car new it had the version 5.1 in it. I was able to go in and overide the nav system and it wouldnt black out when moving. But then I installed the new verion 7.1 when it came out and now no more overiding the system. Even putting the old 5.1 disk back in didnt bring it back. Neither does cutting the blue/green wire. I am totally stumped. I do want to see some pics of your with thoes wheels on it. I have the gold package on mine and had the factory wheels chromed -

Now let me get this right. Are you saying that you just clipped the wire? And you did not install an enabling switch like they had in the last step? -

So, in the kick panel was it the Blue wire you clipped or the wire in pin 15? We clipped the blue wire and the screen still blacked out when the car was moving. The wire in pin 15 is a white wire -

I really didnt want to mount a toggle switch anywhere so I ended up not doing that part of it. I do have full use of my phone numbers now though. So, will the lockpick work with all nav upgrades? When I called them a while back they acted like they didnt even have one for the version 8 yet -

Well we ripped into it today and have the phone part of it working, but the nav still is still un usable while moving. What wire was it for that again? -

One this I was wondering. Since you clip the VSS wire, did it affect your milage monitor at all -

Launching A Boat With A Hybrid
Barefoot Bob replied to RXORO's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
I have a 20 foot Allison Boat and use my RX400 all the time to tow it. No problem at all on the launch ramp. The cool thing is towing it out of the water without the engine running. Really makes the people look. I only have to back it to the point of getting the back wheels wet a bit -
Tom, we recently put a water pump in a Toyota Prius in our shop. Yes, you have to put that OEM stuff back in. I have plenty of Dexcool sitting around but the dealer said no, Dont do it. So $20.00 my cost for a gallon we put in the recomended stuff

Lexus' Maintenance Schedule
Barefoot Bob replied to ilovelexus2007's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
I have the same problem you do. At times I drive very little so I may have 7 or 8 mionths on my oil befor it gets changed. The same thing happens with my collector cars witch will only get about 50 miles a year on them. What I do is add Lube Gard Enigine additive to my oil when doing the oil change. It keeps the acids from forming in the oil and the oil from braking down. When acids form in your oil it eats away at the babbitt used on the bearing surfaces and eventually ruining your engine. -
Thanks guys, I called the dealer and it sounds like they did forgot to reset the windows when they disconnected my battery. Thanks for all the help

Now I have a new problem. Not sure if it is related to getting rid of the seat belt warning or not. I just went on a 1600 mile round trip and found a few problems. One was that my sun roof after tilting up had a hard time closing. The windows arent automatic up or down anymore. And when the stability control kicked in when I lost traction the warning buzzer never went off but the light came on. Wondering if this is all related to shutting off the seat belt warning. And how do I turn the seat belt warning back on?

Nav Upgrade 2006 Rx400h
Barefoot Bob replied to graywolf's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
I had the Version 5 that came with my 06 and updated to the version 7. I lost the cool feature where I could by pass the system so my passenger could use the nav while I was driving. I didnt gain a thing otherwise and was upset that the things I wanted to see added to the nav where not there. I have called all over trying to get a couple fetures added. I am no bible thumper but when I am away for the weekend it would be nice to be able to serch for churches. seems everything else is there from community center to marina. My auto repair shop has been in business since 1956 and I am not even listed. Not sure who ya talk to in order to get things updated. I have talked with Lexus Corporate but they were not sure where to really send me. -

Check here: http://www.coastaletech.com/LOCKPICK_MAIN.htm It's somewhat of a mom&pop outfit, so many have gotten frustrated with their communications. We must have been lucky because our order & phone support went ok. "she who must be obeyed" drives the lexus most of the time, and she's the one who wanted it. works great. It only took about 30-40 minutes to install, & I was in no way 'rushing' the install. If you email, make sure you put the 'e' in the address or your mail goes to a different company :P Thanks, I see they have no phone number on the site. I have a 2006 RX400 but have the version 8 of the nav. I would think the Lockpick 1 should work fine for my vehicle wouldnt you? Sorry, I found a phone number and gave them a call. at this time they do not have an update for me but will in a couple months..Thanks for all the help Bob
