Recommended Posts

Hi all, see the photos below for my 2nd 1995 LS400

has some problems, and I need your input...

1. check engine light on (havent checked codes) just got it today.

2. "Trac OFF" light flashes on and off, with trac button pressed in or out.

3. WW fluid runs out as fast as it is put in (read something about this)

4. sprung trunk hinge (said he put gas cap in the corner, forgot and closed trunk)

5. AC only cool

6. right side mirror broken (is there a replacement glass for it)

7. lower left front fender bent.

8. speedometer needle 2/3rd black (any fix?)

STRIPPED ALL THE GOOD STUFF OFF, PUT IT IN MY NEW 97, AND SOLD IT AT THE AUCTION.

we took all the seats, console, and door post covers out, Chrome wheels, and one seat belt, jack and spare. plus all the gold emblems...

1.check codes :P

2. search for "trac" in this forum, should be a lot of hits.

3. leak in lines

4. either bent trunk or bent hinge.

5. needs a refill of r134a coolant, might have a leak

6. junkyard

7. i actually have the exact piece you need, pm me :P (the plastic panel that's supposed to go there)

8. replacement needle from another panel, not cheap nor easy, just simple in theory.

Nice car!

I wish I could find 95-96 LS400 in need of some minor cosmetic help, so I can get it cheap. :)

This one was cheap, $3000, but I have some issues to deal with.

I fixed the tilt/telescope, but I had already fixed one before, just a garden hose washer works.

The AC just needed one can of freon, and a couple of taillight bulbs turned the dash light off.

Now I need to "get to the washer jug" to see why it is leaking, and turn it's light off.

then the "TRAC/OFF" light that flashes on and off.. (The Trac off button does not change anything)

AND THEN deal with the CHECK ENGINE light .. THE TROUBLE CODE IS "obd II code P0336"

the AutoZone read out said "open or short circuit condition" or "poor electrical connection" or "faulty sensor"

Then see if I can adjust the trunk hinge to make it lay flat again.

WOW, thats hard on a 75 year old guy with limited $$$.

Any info or links will be appreciated.. thanks in advance.. bp

$3000 is cheap. I gave $3200 (plus an additional $300 for shipping) for my '91 LS400 about 16 months ago. Dont have any of those problems, but even when I first got it, things like the engine and transmission mounts were wearing out, now I have valve cover gasket leaks and power steering pump leak. The saga continues.

You might be able to get a used mirror assy. from www.taprecycling.com

WELL... I have a replacement mirror glass coming from partstrain tomorrow (osrv mirror)

Sewell said I could come and pick up the wsw pump for my ws washer, it was missing.

I got the deck lid adjusted, looks normal now.

left to do

fender molding, check engine light, flashing trac-off light.

whew....

You can have this one, I just bought another 1997 LS Diamond white pearl... so this 95 has to go..

I also got the fender molding from pure drifter and put it on.

I am taking the chrome wheels off the 95 and using the 97 stock wheels on it.

let me know if you are serious. bp

Somewhat off-topic, but one thing I noticed from your photos that stands out to me... and it seems to be fairly consistent on these cars as they age... but the leather interior of these cars seems practically indestructible, especially compared to most other manufacturers. I have seen a few that were torn up, but it's rare. I'll assume Lexus simply chose a higher grade of hide as part of their 'cost-no-object' philosophy regarding the flagship LS. My '92 LS with 215K, which I doubt had ever been garaged, was showing some moderate checking & cracking in the tan interior, but it was definitely still passable. If it were a Cadillac at the same age/mileage I probably would've been sitting on the seat springs and not much else. :D btw, great deal you got on that car... I would've given it serious consideration if I weren't already neck-deep in my own project LS!

"Great looking wheels"... the 98-2000 are my favorites to look at, love the front end..

I pulled the chrome wheels off the 95 and put them on the 97.

cheers, bp

my new 97 with chrome wheels.

PEACE AT LAST, SOLD THAT 95, GOT MY 3000 BACK.. cheers
