lexfourcam Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 soo i ordered some headers from s&s headers for 650 plus shipping. i should get them in about 2 weeks and when i get them put on i will let everyone kno if they're worth it. this will complete my exhaust hopefully it wont b too loud. :]
LEXUSA Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Do you have a link to these headers? How much bigger than OEM are they? Material? Do they claim a horsepower/torque increase?
lexfourcam Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 well you must run a catback exhaust with the headers. and they said with the whole complete exhaust done they got about 40hp and 48 tq somethin around there which is pretty good if you ask me so i went ahead and bought them cuz i already have the exhaust done. http://www.headermania.com/mm5/merchant.mv...gory_Code=LEXUS that's the link its s&s headers i ordered mine over the phone they were really nice about it. they're very pricey though.
LEXUSA Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Some cars come with a factory style tubular header. I checked eBay and found an LS manifold, don't look too performance oriented but maybe it flows well for OEM. Its amazing how some automobile manufacturers are realizing that a good flowing exhaust system helps across the board. Emissions, economy, power, sound, longevity etc. I'm kinda surprised Lexus doesn't do this. Do you know yet what the inside of the OEM manifolds look like? Post some pics or at least your impression of their design.
lexfourcam Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 i'll let you know when i get them. hopefully i'll get some audio of the complete system.
smooth1 Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 What do you have for an exhaust system now?
lexfourcam Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 i have 2 1/2 inch exhaust thats true duals to the flow master mufflers. its already really loud so im hoping its not gonna b too much louder. removing the cat definitely makes it alot louder though.
SKperformance Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 The stock manifolds are weird looking to say the least and do nothing for linear power and are made for space issues. The SS headers are way too much work and money for adding 5 hp and not having a nicely made product . Keep the stock manifold and one buy better oil.
jcrome04 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 joining the exhausts with an X-pipe will quiet it down a ton if you're interested in keeping her quiet
lexfourcam Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 well after i got pulled over the other day and the cop was like your car is a lil loud son. maybe you should quiet some to attract less attention but i still got outta the ticket cuz im good like that j/k but really i'll keep that in mind thanks.
