Lexus.
You guys usu. change belt at 75k service? Thats good news - you know if the 75k service wasnt major it would not be on their computer file
Lextech2k3
actually it doesn't matter if you get your air filter changed if an R.O. (repair order) is written up for it it goes into the national system. Pretty cool huh?
Lexus.
Yup. Can't believe that the dumbass at serv. desk didnt mention that t-belt couldve been changed at 75k "major" service...
acf
Yo Lextech, would much appreciate if you can settle this once and for all.
99lsguy
Lexus. , Timing belt is part of the 90K service for 98-00 LS. It is then and every 90K for these models years. I assume its different for the 90-94, and 95-97. I know the 98-00 is and INTERFERENCE engine and the 90-94 is NON-INTERFERENCE. I still think the 95-97 yrs are INTERFERENCE, this info directly from Lexus and Import Shops.
Lexus.
My mechanic with 10+years Lexus experience tells me that the 95-97s are definitely non-interference, he has personally seen them come in to his shop with busted belts and no engine damage, everytime
99lsguy
I've called FIVE different dealers in FIVE different states...... They say; NON-INTERFERENCE (no badness :D ) -- 90-94 LS INTERFERENCE (badness ) -- 95 AND UP LS MODELS This agrees with two independent Lexus/Acura Specialist shops. I'd still get it changed every 90k...........
acf
This is crazy, 2 completely contradictory posts back to back. Hard to argue with 99s info but I gotta hold out hope.
99lsguy
ACF, This is crazy! I honestly think your model (95-97) is the BLURRED LINE. I wanted to talk to an individual MECHANIC at the Lexus dealers, but couldn't . So this info is from the Service Managers- Which does leave me a little suspicious <_< . acf
Tell ya what, I'll do the same test when I get a chance and call 5 random dealerships to see what they say. :)
