xoom04
i drive a 93 sc400.....very nice vehicle. i went to my dealer to get my 3k mile oil change and browsed the lot. there was a beautiful 2000 silver sc400 w/35k miles. i asked the dealer what the main differences were and he said that it met new safety standars, new shifter, new leather style, and a new 5sp auto tranny. is this car any faster than my 93 b/c of the tranny, and if so, can i switch mine out? AWJ
You can't just swap the tranny. It's an auto and the computer is involved. You might be able to swap the computers too, but then there is the vvt-i thing. I doubt it will make your car any faster.

Lex Luthor
xoom, the '00 has 40 more hp, it has the VVT-i motor, this is why it's faster, along with the 5speed automatic. There were many many other changes made to the coupe though...body, wheels, glass, instrumentation, leather, steering wheel, shifter, climate ctrl, sound system, etc, etc. Also, the 2K's are rare, not too many made, you should strongly consider it, plus it's my favourite colour :) .
