rfcbuf Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 My 1998 GS400 with standard OE radio now has a fading LED display. The display is 95% faded out so I can't see the stations. Is there a fix for this problem?
djspawn00 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 I believe this is a common problem and I don't recall there being any fix. My radio still works but the display gets all twitchy and the characters look like the language from the transformers movie. An OEM radio cost an arm and a leg and lacks features you can get from an aftermarket radio for a fraction of the prices. When my radio finally does kick the bucket (the cd changer already has one foot in the grave) I'll probably just upgrade to a pioneer AVIC system with built in navigation.

Is there a fix for this problem? My radio display crapped out on my 2000 GS300 in 2002, just out of warranty. Back then a member gave me a serial number on the board and a telephone number to buy a replacement board. Also sent along instructions with pictures as to how to remove the radio unit. Simple to do and even easier to replace display board. Apparently the plug ribbon is a problem where they glue it to the board. If the other responder cant help you with the 125.00 board. let me know. and I will dig out the info on the guy who helped me out of Fla.
GSKeef Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 The same thing happened to my gs and lexus gave me an outrageos price to fix it so i just bought a pioneer

[/quote] Harness Repair Hi I Have a 2001 GS300 I couldn't read the Radio illustration because the Green LEDs has blown out on one side of my Radio and the instrument panel, so I took it to aftermarket Replacement specialist at http://www.harnessrepair.com it was $75.00 to replace the three LEDs that had blownout so I ask how much to replace all of the LEDs , the total cost was $125.00 and he change the color of the LEDS from Green to blue for no extra charge. good luck.
