2005 Ls 430 Cooled Seats / Climate Seats Not Cooling Enough

I have a 2005 LS 430 with 25K miles. It has heated/cooled seats which seem to work but not as I would expect them too. The heating part if fine I guess because it uses electric filament and no fan or air. I say this because the fan in seat turns off when you move the knob to heater position. The problem is seat cooling. I have cleaned the seat filters thoroughly and still no good. They feel a little cooler after 10 minutes but then it feels the same again. I checked fuses and the fan and they all are fine. You can hear the seat fan running and you turn it on. I am not happy with them. I drove a 2006 GS350 and a 2007 IS 250 which cooled seats and oh man they chill your !Removed! like you are sitting on ice. You have to set them to 1 or 2 as 3 would make you cold. In my car even at 3 feels like nothing. I examined in the 07 IS250 that their seat fans are big and I did not notice any filter. My last option is to replace the seat filters which are not in bad shape at all (only 25K miles) The filters cost $97 a piece at a dealer and $57 a piece at Sewell Lexus. www.beta.lexus-parts.com part # PART # 88921-50010. I want to know how your cooled seats work on LS 430. have you had any problems with cooling ? Compared to GS350 and IS250 my climate seats don’t cool at all :(

I've had 2 LSs (a 2003 and now a 2005). Neither one of them provide the level of cooling in the seats that I've noticed from the new GS, ES and IS models. I've accepted that it's just different in the LS. There is no difference in cooling between my old LS and my new LS. The cooling definitely works. Maybe they are using different fans in the newer models. I haven't had the opportunity to try an LS460 yet.

I have a 2004 LS 430. The seats do not get cool on my car, and the dealer told me that the air that blows is just room temperature air and not air conditioner cooled air. This seems strange to me since my there are there is a "cool air" setting. Is the dealer right or does he just not know what he is talking about?

Let's make some sense of this ,tish, tish. The guys, gals that drive 430's and 460's are, as a rule older.

Let's face it..I don't want my :censored: frosted. You young guys in the IS's and GS's need a good frosting. I heard that frosted :censored: and Viagra cause a lamented index. LOL guess engineering has reached new heights. That's my input and I'm sticking to it. LOL :whistles:

That's not actually correct, the LS430 seats contain Peltier coolers, in its time it was the only Lexus with actively cooled seats.

I bought a 2006 certified LS430 yesterday with ventilated/heated seats and I've noticed that very little air comes through the seats, and it appears to be the temp of the cabin air. I've eliminated the air filters as the culprit, so I think its what others have posted here: its just not gonna be air conditioned air. I suppose that's why Lexus refers to them as ventilated rather than cooled seats. Regardless, its a great car. I had no idea I "needed" radar cruise control, but after driving from Fort Worth back to Houston I'm spoiled! I traded in my 1998 LS400 which I thought was a quiet car. Compared to this one it was like driving with the top down.

I read the manual about replacing the seat air filters. My thougths after reading: "Huh?" After finding instructions on how to check the seat air filters on this site I joined. Thanks to those of you who posted the how to.

I'll echo the sentiments here - the cooled seats is more gimmicky than useful. It helps a little, but only a very little. Living in Arizona, I can't comment much on the heated seats.

Exactly. A very small fan is located on the bottom of the seat and it sucks air right from there.

BTW, my passenger's seat is also "cooling" better then the driver's seat.

How odd. We have put over 200,000 miles on our 2005, and the front seats very definitely blew chilled air - until yesterday when the green light above the control knob began to blink. Didn't know about the filters, but will be checking them later today!
