Brake Pad Replacements

Recommended Posts

The brake pads on my 2001 GS300 need to be changed.

What seem to perform the best: quietest and longest?

Ceramic Pads

Semi-metallic pads (which I expect would be noisy!)

Original Equipment Pads?

What is the best wisdom out there?

the oe pads are ceramic. stick with those

They are not ceramic...they are semi mettalic

Just changed my 2000 GS300 pads myself and I believe they were Ceramic. They were a japanese make, not oem, but was one of the easiest brake jobs I have done. Less than $100 and a hour or so labor. Changed at 75K and the rear brakes were less than 50% worn. New aftermarket pads feel great.

PS Metallic, not mettalic. Spell check is a brilliiant tool.

Would you recommend going to only Lexus to get new brake pads?? I would like to try and find someone else in Chicago, besides Lexus.. Is that a bad idea??

You'd save a lot of money buying the pads from irontoad.com or l-tunedparts.com or lexus-parts.com they cost a lot less to buy the pads there then have any decent mechanic put them in. The job itself is not at all complicated or difficult.
