Grandpa
Hey guys, been a while since I've posted, but I got a quick question about jump starting. So, as I just found out, a lot of people have misconceptions about jump starting and the #1 issue I have noticed is that a lot of people(including me!) put the black/negative terminal on the negative terminal of the dead battery. However, fromwhat I have read this is a no-no. So, I have a picture here and was wondering where is a good source to put my negative terminal on for a 92 LS 400? LScott400
I clamp to the fill plug just above the thermostat housing.

SKperformance
why is it a no ? You are applying the cables to mimic the voltage of a battery ,thus you would apply it in the same place. The only no no is not to have the good battery car running at the same time to power the dead one. If your battery can start your car it can start the other one as well. LScott400
the thing that if you unscrew has coolant? Yep. why is it a no ? Oftentimes attaching the cable to the negative terminal of the stalled vehicle generates a spark. A buildup of hydrogen gas at the battery could result in its explosion. Grandpa
yup, that's what i heard, but the probability is so slim because usually the gas isn't concentrated enough
