Scott M Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 :cries: only done 3 K on the car woohooooo Has there been a post on how to take apart the door? Why? It's under warranty! Don't do anything to make matters worse. Let Lexus worry about it. ;)
lambobaby1218 Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 And my moonroof only makes noise when I have it open at tilt, the cover is closed, and I hit a bump. Then it sounds like something is rattling up there. It's not enough of an annoyance for me to complain about it.
sPY-007 Posted December 10, 2006 Author Posted December 10, 2006 The creaking comes from the contact between the rubber liner and the metal surface.... would anyone recommend putting dry lub or silicone lubricant to stop the creaking?

isboy Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 My B pillar crealing (by the seat belt) was driving me insane. It was a rattle -almost a buzz, and was almost constant. Dealer tried twice and failed to fix (though I was still pleased with the service). The dealer suspected it was the locking mechanism in the door. I have a good amount of stereo install experience so I pulled the door panel off and listened and tweaked. I essentially wrapped the locking mechanism in felt, and it did no good (the dealer put a tiny felt pad in there, which was kind of laughable). The solution came when I realized that if I pushed or pulled on the door, it stopped. I adjusted the striker catch on the B pillar slightly, and voila! No noise in over a week now (what a relief, I love my IS now!) The plastic is tough to get off the catch, I recommend if you want to try it (at your own risk) slide a credit card under the plastic, and use a skinny flat head to pry off the plastic. Then use a large star hex wrench (or bit) to loosen the catch. reseat it (you cant misalign it much here since the bolts are tapered) and cross your fingers.
is_in_red Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 :cries: only done 3 K on the car woohooooo Has there been a post on how to take apart the door? I'd say have at it. I've had my IS into the dealer for creaking/rattling: door panels; moonroof; dashboard; seats; The dealer service hasn't been good - in fact the service manager arranged to meet me and discuss the problems then failed to show up. Here's the response I received from Lexus after the last visit: Dear Mr. D[edited for privacy], Thank you for the opportunity to review your concern and with the moonroof on your 2006 IS 250, Vehicle Identification Number JTHCKxxxxxxxxx. N[edited for privacy] Lexus of L[edited for privacy] and I have reviewed your concern and we apologize that the dealer was unable to duplicate the creaking noise in the moonroof. Lexus respectfully declines to provide any further repairs related to this issue, because Lexus was unable to duplicate the issue. We appreciate your understanding in this matter and your concerns have been documented at headquarters. If you require further assistance, please respond to this e-mail, or contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction at 1-800-255-3987, Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Pacific Standard Time. I'd make one of their techs take a ride with me and show them when and how it creaks. That'll give them the duplication they need to go forward with the repair.
