Rinseless Wash: Tips?

WIth the coming cold weather here in the East, I've gone with the groups suggestion of using a rinseless wash (Poor Boys) when a standard wash is not possible, and am happy with my initial results.

But real quickly, can anyon comment on:

- How often can it be used?

- Can it be used no matter how dirty the car is, or only light dirt ( I fear when the salt trucks come!)

- Application tips: lots of liquid or just a little?

- Does it strip the wax at all?

Finally, while reading through this and the Autipia Forums and the talk of daily cleaners, I can't figure out what 'ONR' stand for- can someone decipher for me?

First off poorboys S&W is ok for light to lishgt med dirt. I would NOT use it over salt etc. No way. I have used about 2 gallons of the stuff and have 3 qts left. After that, bye bye. I would use ONR for washings in northeast. I live in MA.

I agree with mburn, if you're looking for a real rinseless wash you need to be looking at Quick and Easy Wash or Optimum No Rinse. ONR=Optimum No Rinse.

Pakshak is WAY too high, They want $39.95 for a gallon of ONR. I just paid $30.00 for the same thing ($29% less- be here in 3 days). Again, pakshak might be nice but they are overpriced.

Recommended alternative vendors? I'm kinda new on the forum (2006 IS250 AWD from August), so I'm still finding my way around the forum, retailers, chemicals, methods, etc....

My favorite thing about ONR is that it last a long time. It only takes two capfulls for two gallons of water. I bought the 32 ounce bottle months ago and have used it many, many times. It works great when you use a wool mit to wash and plush microfiber to dry. I don't like it as a quick detailer though. I tried it once (I should have just washed it in a bucket solution of ONR) and it swirled my freshly polished paint from a week before.

QD works if you do it every day or two MAX. ONR works really well in same ammount but for me, the WW toels works better then a MF to dry.

I like ONR to clean then JW AJt to seal...comes out mint.

WW towels (which are MFs, just a different weave) are a MUST HAVE for drying, especially when using QEW or ONR.

Don't waste time with Jeffs Werkstat, if you do you will see bad streaks that don't come off. Do a search you'll see. For rinseless I use QEW, good stuff.

Please show me on your car. I have it and use it, have you? Also, in one post you say ONR causes marring and then you use QEW????

Again I have used both and ONR is slicker and has better shine.

Again Scrub, if you're going to post in my detailing forum you're going to be more respectful of the views of others, and more neutral in your assessment of products.

I do however think your posts here have more to do with getting under mburn's skin than they do anything else (hence you saying ONR will cause marring when you use QEW which is basically idential when mburn uses ONR, and you've basically dismissed everything he's said in here off hand and in a charged way).

If thats the case and I continue to see that, you won't be here long.

Some steps to rinse you car is given here-

1. For best results, rinse desired car surfaces with a hose before applying product to remove any excess dirt.

2. The liquid and the water ratio should be 1:20

3. Then gently wash your car and finally

4. Use microfiber cloth to remove water

I personally use ONR and very excited to try the new ONR Wash & Wax

I use about 2oz (2 cap fulls) in about 5 gallon of water with grit guard insert

I also add some Duragloss Aquawax (liquid spray wax)

Wash sections at a time using MF mitt and dry off with waffle weave towel

However, just to be safe, I always go to a coin wash beforehand.

I usually spray the lower half doors, fenders, bumpers, wheels & tires, wheel wells, windows, etc. with an all purpose cleaner (1:2 or 1:3 diluted ratio depending on which APC I use....recommend Optimum Power Clean)

Let it sit for a bit, and use a pressure washer to rinse off all the dirty stuff on the surface

Canadian winter here, so can get VERY dirty from slush and road salt, etc.

I also have Optimum Vinyl & Rubber protectant for the tires.

I use Optimum and DP rinsless wash. First I use california dust to remove any dust and light dirt. Than I wash per panel only and dry with a cobra guzzler. I do this once a week.
