Tape Strips On Rear Door Of 03 Es300

While detailing my car I noticed on both sides of the read door frame, just in front of the rear tire wells, 2 strips of tape approximately 6 to 8 inches in length. Totally same color as the car but definitely tapes.

What are they? Should I remove them?

they are a poor attempt on lexus for edge protection.

3M makes this material and it can be bought in sheets to apply to bumper, hood edge, etc to help eliminate paint chips from rocks and debris.

The 02 has it also.

When waxing, a toothbruch can be used to get dried wax out of the edge/crease.

On my IS 300 the entire lower skirt has that protective stuff on it.
