Day Time Running Lights

like every other car with DRl's

turn the car off

press the E brake

start the car

until you turn off the ebrake the lights will stay off

Thanks, turning the car off and back on got the result I was looking for. But I discovered that it wasn't the e brake that controls the DRL (at least not by itself), the DRL comes on when I first shift out of park, after releasing the e brake.

Now a related question is, is there a way to turn off the DRL without cycling the ignition ? If not, then I think this is an oversight of Lexus designers, because there are many circumstances I can think of where its undesirable to have the DRL on while parked with engine on.
