RX944 Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 Do i need new(bigger) wheels if im going to get the supra TT brake upgrade from lexuspros?i have the stock 10 spoke wheels on my 92 SC4 now,i believe they are 16 inches. What size would i need to go with? Thanks
RX944 Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 If i get the LS4 (96-00 i believe) upgrade, would i still need to get bigger wheels, and how much $$ would it cost to get the calipers, rotors, and pads for all 4 wheels, Thanks
SC4Million Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 No, they wont fit the stock 10-spokes. 18's for sure should fit and some 17's depending if you can clear the fron of the caliper.
SKperformance Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 pretty sure it has to be 17inch minumum with a lower offset
jzz30 Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 didnt the LS have 16inch rims? so you could use stock with spacers right?
jeremyp Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Not only do you need at least a 17" wheel, you'll also need a wheel with spokes that will clear the calipers as well. The TT and LS400 calipers stick out much farther than the stock SC calipers do.
Lex Luthor Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 did the second gen LS come with 16s or 17s? ← The design of the spoke matters as much as the offset of the wheel, and whether it is a high disc fitment or not. It's possible to grind away a bit from the caliper if you need another millimeter or so, but I myself wouldn't do that....the most cost effective way to do it is to find a set of used TT wheels. Yes the LS400 calipers are very similar to the TT's and can be used as an upgrade. IMO all of the coupes should have come with these brakes, or at least the SC400 brakes, which are very adequate for a non-turbo application. Don't forget you'll also need the TT 17x4" spare, as your current spare will be useless on the front....try to find a used one, it's $275 new.
jzz30 Posted December 19, 2004 Posted December 19, 2004 well what im trying to get at is if the LS had 16's cant you just run wheel spacers to offset the stock rim and run the LS calipers? stock sc rims dont have the right offset in my opinion and wouldnt hurt to come out a bit more.
JohnnyB822 Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 i have a 96 sc300 what all do i need for a tt brake conversion besides calipers rotors and pads
