O2 Sensors...again!

I had a P0136 (Bank one, sensor 2). I replaced the 02 sensor after the converter. The CEL is still on! I was told resetting the CEL was not necessary?

I thought there were 2 on the engine and 1 on the pipe. Is this correct? I thought for sure I was changing the correct one. Also, are all the 02 sensors interchangable?

did you ever check to see if the cat was bad?

The cel comes on for a sensor sending back an error, it can mean the cat is not working properly or the sensor.

The upper ones are the same the one after the cat is different

1. So you are confirming there are a total of 3 02 sensors on the '95 and that I changed the correct one but that the cat may be bad?

2. How can I tell if the cat is bad?

yes

an emisson test will tell you for sure if the cat is bad getting a laser temp gauge will show the needed heat before and after the cat to know if it is working.

You may be running to lean for it to work properly

or buring oil

or the cat has disintergrated which is rare for a lexus

Maybe reset the CEL anyway and drive awhile, before going into it too deep.

if you have a jack and you jack up the front passenger side enough to wiggle under the car a little you cat wrap a wrap around you had and smack the cat. if you hear something rattling around in there it is bad. what has happen is the car has started to break up and is not performing it's duty anymore. when u go on 2 long enough trips and the computer detects this through the reading on the first and second o2 sensor being the same it will throw the code. if the cat was working properly the second signal would be lower and a code would no be thrown. o2 sensors do fail but in the hundreds of times I have had someone bring me a car with a code about an 02 sensor it is normally something else or something else that caused the 02 sensor to go bad.

do u have a volt meter that measures on the 1 volt range. because if you do you can easily test the o2 sensor
