id1
My LS400 does not start... I bought this 1995 4 days ago. I am still getting used to the controls. Till yesterday, whenever I lock or unlock doors (this has lexus alarm) I hear the chirp and it did what was asked for. This morning, when I pressed unlock it flashed lights too, which, it never did till now. And then it does not start. Any suggestions. I got to look in the owner manual and see what I can do. If any of you can help out I appreicate.
UCF3
curious, is there an aftermarket alarm on this LS400? The light shouldn't flash, and it should definitely beep. Check the battery and the alternator. Then check the fuse box in the engine bay. If one of them is burned out, replace them. Please reply back to this post. I'm interested. SKperformance
i would almost asy that there is an aftermarket alarm in there and that it was/is somehow linked to a remote start or atleast a starter kill look by your battery and see if there is a fuse or a few wires that don't look like they really belong leaving the battery terminals hopefully one of them has a fuse udo them all and try you key if this is applicable at all
id1
sorry, folks, for delay in getting back. It starts now. The problem was the sterring was heavier than what my wife was used to... a twist of that and the key turned last evening. It is fine now. As for alarm, it is lexus factory alam. And now the lights don't flash: it just chirps as usual. I was on my way to work yesterday when my wife called with the news. I appreciate your suggestions and thank you folks... UCF3
same here. Were you able to turn the key all the way before, or were you stuck on "zero turn"? Sorry about attempting to push the issue but we are intrigued by the flashing.
id1
I apologize for being rude in not replying... it is just that I was out of town and returned last night. As for how it all started, I am not sure either. It was my wife who ran into trouble at home while I was on my way to work. She was all the more agitated at that time considering that my 16yr old daughter missed the school bu, at 7:05am - after getting up at 6:20am - and she had to drop her off: which added to her own commuting time. We live in a small town in CT and getting in and out of school takes an extra 30minutes at that hour. So it was kind of irritating to her and I could not extract much info from her that evening either. Now it is back to normal. The alarm indicator next to steering blinks when set and it is only chirp when locked or unlocked. Again I apologize for not getting back to you right away.
