DLaxMan3
I have a 92 SC400 and my trunk won't lock unless i lock it manually with the key, so most of the time its open. Its really anoying and ideas for a cheap fix will be much apreciated.
SirSam
I have the same exact problem, the teeth on the locking mechanism is out of align, I havn't found a way to fix it yet, and I don't believe its broken because it is intact, I'm pretty sure its just out of align. If you take off the panel covering you can get to it, its pretty simple. I havn't been able to work with it much, so I just detached the plastic piece with the teeth on it. Now it will latch, it will set the alarm off if you tamper with it to hard, I found that out :)
DLaxMan3
I just relized this the only time it doesn't lock is when i electronically open the trunk from the drivers seat. If i open it with the key it will lock when i close it. So I am thinking it might be an electrical problem.
SKperformance
You need to adjust the actuator on the lock rod it is sticking.
DLaxMan3
what is the actuator and how do i adjust it?
SKperformance
It is a motor that is activated when you press the button . It has a rod connnected to the lock assembly. Try dowsing the lock mechanism with wd40 and locking and unlocking it with the key and the button , It should loosen up the rod from sticking. As it has a strong kick to it it can keep it stuck if it is dirty ad sticking.
