sunman Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 I installed factory 2001 Es300 Headlamps in my 97 Es300. They work great. I installed a new harness to carry the extra load with 2 relays and seperate fuses. The autolevelling motors don't work at the moment but I have the electronic contol module to make them work. I still need to get the axel sensors for them also. Also, while toying around, I noticed the harness for the automatic suspension is installed in the car. It's a east retrofit.
lexusk8 Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Did you install the '00-'01 factory HID headlamps from the ES? Those are a hard-to-get item outside of the dealership parts dept. Please post up some pics! :)
sunman Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 yep, factory original 01 es HID lamps assy. I will post some pics soon
hammer008 Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 yep, factory original 01 es HID lamps assy. I will post some pics soon Can you tell us how you managed to fit the D2S bulb into the h7. Sounds like you replaced the whole headlight unit though. Pics of the installation would be nice enjoy.
sunman Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 I replaced the entire headlamp assy. I did not mess with just the bulb and ballast systems as I wanted the OEM reflector also. I plan to make the auto levelling work sometime in the future also.
Hank Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 lol.. not that hard to find. just gotta eye ebay at the right time.
sunman Posted October 3, 2004 Author Posted October 3, 2004 I got both on Ebay for about 500 bucks for both. Not all the parts were there so I had to spend an extra 40 bucks at the dealer for some locking caps, washers, etc... I will post pics soon.
HubJunky1 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I got the 01 HID housings for my 97 also, the light modules are on their way... my question for you is, how did you fit the housings in the spot? I tried to put them in, but it looks like ill have to cut out some metal from the front of the car, did you work around this or did you do that? How many pieces are involved other than the motors in making the auto-level work? I'm thinking of just fashioning something where I can control the angle via switch, figured it would be cheaper and easier, your opinion?
mburnickas Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 First off, not pics! You are a bad man!! :chairshot: ..come back 1-year! :) I have had HIDS in my 98 for alosmt 3 years and love them. I was going to buy some hids for my GSXR1100 but I think I am going to sell it. Gotta love HIDS....
sunman Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 the front left light was a little problematic. The metal was bent slightly to accomidate the light. The right was fine. I have the control unit for the levelling system but decided against it at the moment as the harness is not available. I could use some type of dial switch to adjust them but for now, I have just fixed them to a position. I will post pics very soon.
HubJunky1 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 How did you manually adjust the aim without moving the motors?
sunman Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 yes, turn the bolt and watch the level in the clear window.
HubJunky1 Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 I dont see any level on the 01 hid housings, or a bolt to adjust, since there is the levelling motor?
sunman Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 I have the same lights with the motors. Look on the rear and there is a clear plastic piece with a red mark in it. There are 2 silver colored bolts that are used for adjustment. One for high beam and and the other for low.
