Glove Box Light

The car is a 04 ES330 and I found out that the glove box light will only work when the parking lights are turned on. Has anyone rewired the light so that it turns on when ever the glove box is open and without the need to turn on the parking lights? I would appreciate any info you have to offer. Thanks!!

easy mod

take it to a stereo store to wire it up to a constant +12vdc so the switch runs the light only not the light relay

I wonder why Lexus would only have the light come on when the parking lights are on? Are they trying to discourage you from rummaging through your glove box while driving? Weird . . .

I guess that Lexus figured you don't need this light during the daylight hours.

Smart idea i think, i know plentyful occasions when my glove box was left open.

Personally, I could never leave something like my glovebox open. Little things like open cabinet doors and stuff bug me :P They msut be shut! :P

I am weird, and a stickler for neatness and organization :P

So, I guess I read the original post wrong. I guess I forgot that the parking lights are on when the headlights are on, so the glove box does indeed light up while driving at night . . .
