glenmore
It began with a flicker, but now my parking brake idiot light stays on after releasing the parking brake. The light is bright when the parking brake is on and dims after release. The manual says this is an indication of low brake fluid. My fluid level is fine. Anything else to check? 1990LS400
One thing you could try is to pull the parking brake pedal all the way up with your toe while pulling the release lever out. The mechanism on my 90 got a bit gummed up over the years and I occasionally had to lube it to get the pedal to come all the way up on its own. silvermate
make absolutely sure its not the brake fluid first. remember the sensor in the resevoir is very very sensitive even an 1/4 inch off and the light will come on...... go pick up a small bottle of brake fluid and just add a touch, and see if the light goes off ;) good luck
tansupplyman
I have to direct WD-40 up at the hinge position, etc. about every 3 months so the brake will pop back up far enough to turn the light off. To clean good etc would probably would mean removing the dash !!!!!!--it is almost that tight.
Sark003
After some time, the sensor may fail. Try another from a like car and see if it goes out. It's pretty easy to change.
