  1. Doing a fuel system service may help some but, If you remove the MAF sensor and examine it, You might find some reidue on the sensor located mostly on one side.
  2. If you can live with the noise, It wont hurt anything but, It shows up more when the pads are getting worn. Take the pads out and use the special grease from Lexus and put it in between the shims and the pads. Then lubricate the surface where the pads fit into the calipers. This will make it go away for a while but it will come back. You will also notice that it usually happens when the pads are cold. After applying the brakes a couple of times it goes away because the pads grow and fit tighter in the frames. Do not use anything that resembles a glue type substance on them to perform this. Good luck
  3. After some time, the sensor may fail. Try another from a like car and see if it goes out. It's pretty easy to change.
  4. Just wait till you see what is coming down the pike. Thre is great stuff in the works.
  5. New updated sockets for the front turn signals are available.
  6. Normally the temp sensor would read high if the car is sitting still and not having air pass by it.
  7. Couple of questions. Are you applying the brakes when it happens? If it is the case, the brake pads may be shifting in the calipers.
  8. All of this is an indication that the speed of the compressor is not matching the speed of the engine. Make sure the belt is tight. Make sure that the front of the compresor does not have any oil residue there. This was an issue with some early model RX's with the front seal for the compressor leaking. Also in wet weather if water gets on the belt and causes the belt to slip, It will cause this problem.
  9. Check the Maf sensor. It may be on its way out. Not enough to cause a MIL but can cause this exact issue.
  10. Jacob, replace the motor mounts and trans mount and the vibration issue will go away. The Motor mounts are liquid filled and deteriorate after time and the trans mount will sag to the point that the post will rest on the bottom part of the mount. Getting to the bottom of the cat issue will be a task for a good tech to determine the cause. It could be a engine management issue also. Be carefull with this issue.
  11. Not Sure Exactly what happened... in a three day period, 1. The Power Window Actuator went out in the Drivers window, Common problem with the weaknees of the lug on the cable that runs up and down the guide. Just have to replace regulator. At least you don't have to replace the motor also. 2. The Illumination went out on BOTH the Guage Levers on Dash. (Gas and Temp} Again a common issue. Make sure you replace all the illumination bulbs as you will be removing the cluster again. 3. The Tilt Steering Memory/adjustment suddenly started making a LOUD noise if you attempt to lower it. It is STUCK in the all the way UP and all the way OUT position.. (quite Umcomfortable to drive) Try and check the position sensor connection on the right side of the column. If it loses connection because of the movement of the column. 4. The "TRAC" light is suddenly ON all the time. This would have to be diagnosed with pulling the codes using a scan tool. 5. Just Noticed a NOTICEABLE Vibration in the steering. Upon inspecting the condition of front tires, found them toi be in QUITE poor condition. (15K Miles into 60K Tires.) Apparently Front End is suddenly out of alignment.
  12. Bubbles, You will need to remove the ground cable from the battery and the engine and clean the connections to chassis and engine. Take the cable and solder the lugs if you can. If not build a new cable. Common problem with both the 300 and 400.
  13. Car is early 1992 SC300 with a W58 manual gearbox. Previous owner has destroyed the interior. Cracked leather and door panel splits. I have waited to find this car for a long time. Lots of restoring to do. Runs great and everything works except that the CD changer needs the updated eye. I won't say how much I paid for it .
  14. cemike, Most likely it is the channel in the intake manifold that is clogged with carbon. Removal of the intake from the thottle body to the main chamber and cleaning the porting from the EGR to the throttle body will fix this. Use carb cleaner. It is a messy job. Light has come on due to no flow of exhaust gas to cool combustion temp. May create some pinging if not repaired.
