Grandpa Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 On my 92 LS key, it has the LEXUS logo, and then on the side there is a button that is barely visible, but it's made of rubber and you can press it. what does it do?
SKperformance Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 it is the stock oem lexus alarm if it doesn;t do anything like unlock the doors tehn the battery is probably dead
Grandpa Posted July 19, 2004 Author Posted July 19, 2004 I don't think its broken. I have two other remote keys, that have new batteries, and they both can't lock/unlock the door. I think it's something with the car. :(
UCF3 Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 It's most likely the head unit. It might be out. I had the same problem with the LS, and I had to replace the entire unit. It cost me $350 w/labour.
Grandpa Posted July 19, 2004 Author Posted July 19, 2004 Where was it a done at? Dealer or a local mech?
UCF3 Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I did mine through the dealer about three years ago. Labour rates have gone up since then, so I'd get a price quote.
chips229 Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Mine dont work, replaced batteries, ive been told its the main unit in the car... For the price Lexus want to replace it...im just going to have a alarm fitted ;) that will lock/unlock the doors and should have a better distance range.Over here i can get a alarm fitted for £100 cheaper the the Lexus replacement unit which i believe the range is only around 3 feet
