  2. Hey Dark Horse, I’m experiencing a similar issue with my ‘04. What shop did you use?
  3. Another normal day, and bam I smelled something burning under the steering wheel area. Car still runs and drives but the hazards stay on regardless, Door Ajar light. dome light all malfunctioning. I've checked fuse after fuse and now my obd plug says it cannot connect. Sound like the ecm. I replaced the hazard relay fuse checked the turn signal relay and fuses all around any helps appreciated thx
  4. Thanks Dave, that explains it well
  5. I would squirt some powdered graphite into the key hole, then make sure the key goes all the way in. As it sits right now, try lightly tapping the end of the key with a hammer. If the car starts after that, the graphite will ensure that the problem does not reoccur for a long time.

  7. Current price has been dropped to $8k for any interested buyer. Wish I could edit my own post.
  8. Following are the results from Microsoft Copilot: The 2007 Lexus LS460 4.6L V8 does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. Instead, it uses a check valve on the bottom of the transmission. To check the transmission fluid level, follow these steps: Ensure Safety: Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Warm Up the Engine: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the transmission fluid. Locate the Check Valve: The check valve is typically located on the bottom of the transmission, underneath the vehicle. You may need to raise the car using a hydraulic lift or an underground bay to access it. Remove the Check Valve Plug: Use a wrench or socket to remove the check valve plug. Be cautious as some fluid may drain out. Check the Fluid Level: Insert your finger or a clean tool into the check valve hole. The fluid level should be close to the bottom of the hole. If it’s low, you may need to add more fluid. Add Transmission Fluid (if necessary): If the fluid level is low, add the appropriate transmission fluid. The 2007 Lexus LS460 requires approximately 7.7 quarts or 7.3 liters of transmission fluid12. Reinstall the Check Valve Plug: Once you’ve checked the fluid level, securely reinstall the check valve plug. Verify Proper Fluid Level: Start the engine, shift through the gears (from P to 2L), and then return to Park (P). Recheck the fluid level to ensure it’s within the proper range3. Maintain Vehicle Level: Keep the vehicle level while adjusting the fluid level to ensure accuracy4. Remember to use Toyota Genuine ATF WS transmission fluid for this vehicle. If you’re unsure or need assistance, consider having a mechanic perform the check for you. Regular maintenance of your transmission fluid is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of your vehicle.
  9. Hello, Tommy. Have you researched auto salvage yards throughout the country?
  10. This problem just happened to my 02 SC430. What did the fix turn out to be?

  12. Oh nooo. How awful. 😟 The update process for me was in two distinct phases. The first step took about 20 minutes or so. The second step required an ignition switch off and switch on again (as prompted on the display) and then took another 6-7 minutes to complete. The SD card itself has a Lexus logo, so I assumed it was officially produced and not simply a copy by the dealer. The update reset all the settings and I had to spend some time retuning the radio, setting the navigation region, re-entering saved destinations, reloading customised images for the display, etc, etc. But all works as it should. Hope you can get it sorted. As an aside, the map is still a disappointment ... on the other hand, roads are constantly changing here in Dallas. I s'pose my obsession with having all my PCs and devices on the latest software/firmware level carried over to the car. In retrospect the upgrade didn't get me any noticeably new functionality, and I probably won't use the navigation much anyway (sticking to Google Maps on my Android phone). I'm glad it's done, but it certainly wasn't worth $215.
  13. We have a 2008 lexus hybrid 400h and it has 257,000 miles and still runs great! We have had to put a little money it as far as new control arms, and alignment etc. She is a great car and I hope she lasts a lot longer!
  14. Ohhhh Even better idea! I could mount it to the sun visor and tap into the visor light for power! Good idea? Terrible idea?
  15. My 07 RX400h has about 86,000 miles and hasn't had the timing belt changed yet... How concerned should I be?
  16. Looking for a good PPF installer near LA or San Diego area.
  17. Worked like a charm for my 1996 ES300. Key in Driver Side Door, locked and unlocked several times, watched alarm light go off and on. Crossed my fingers and she started right up. After a rear end collision (not me, my son), car alarm went off and killed the car. Tried to remove battery and waited 10 minutes, connected, no joy, alarm started going off, auto locked the doors. 😞 Found this Post, tried it, Voila, it worked. I tried other tricks on YT to find the #4 & #13 Pin on OBD plug, no Joy only had #4. so for older 1MF-ZE engines with factory alarm, SKP's tips worked great. THANKS SKPerformance!
  18. So on my 92 sc 300 one of the mounting bolts for the power steering pump is located in the ac unit. Well my ac unit bolt hole broke off and I don't want to replace the ac unit. Does anyone have an idea of how I can bolt in the power steering pump and still be able to to put tension on it without the ac unit?
  19. So, I have the same issue that the previous post mentions. I have sound. The nav system is working. However, none of the controls on the radio itself work (power, volume, etc.). Additionally the volume controls on the steering column do not work either. I can use the touch screen to adjust treble, bass, fade, etc.
  20. Yeah, agreed. For previous cars I've bought old seatbelt buckle keys from junk/scrap yards (the flat metal bit that clips into the seatbelt buckle). However, not a single one in my collection fits in the ES350, so I used the OBD scanner to disable the ding.
  21. In my case, nothing that I could do myself was helping for nearly 18 months (2 winters). I changed batteries twice, jump start many times in cold weather as well as during summer. I was very frustrated because even the dealer would not tell me how long it would take to find the source of drain but at bare minimum they would try for at least 2 hours @ 303/hour for a total of $606. My local mechanic refused to start the work because he said it takes long time with unpredictable results to find a drain. I think the dealer probably could find it quicker but they still wanted minimum 2 hour charge. Somehow I got lucky. I went to another Lexus dealer with my wife for an oil change on her car. And I asked the service tech about parasitic drain and indicated that I am willing to bring my car to work on the issue. But, first I want to know what is the most common reason for parasitic drain in Lexus and how much money I am looking at for that most common reason to fix so I am well prepared. He asked what year/model; I told him LS 430-2005. He said oh, many 05 LS 430 had amplifier causing the parasitic drain. And, if that is what he finds, it could cost anywhere upwards of $1300 to replace it in addition to 2 hour charge looking for the drain. So, I came home, watched YouTube to find out where the amplifier is in the trunk, removed the black cover and just unplugged the amplifier wire connector thinking that if this works, I could live without radio in this old car which I don’t listen to anyway. It was in the middle of winter with battery dying almost every 1-2 days. I kept my fingers crossed and started the car 2 days later and by good luck it started at first turn of the key. I waited 2 more days without driving so the car sat in the driveway for 4 days and started again on 5th day. Problem solved. Now I use my cell phone to listen to music and news. Navigation, and car phone audio still work on blue tooth. The only thing that does not work is radio and CD player. I would say just my good luck that I tactfully asked that question to the service tech otherwise everybody said "it could be anything, can't tell without starting the job".
  22. I have a 99 here, I was able too locate the black hose and drain it on the passenger side but I was not able too find one on the drivers side, I know this is 5 years old but there is hope, thank you!
  23. Looking to buy a windshield washer fluid reservoir for a 1992 Lexus ES 300. Anyone have one of these?
