finally had the courage to gut open the iacv and boy was it dirty! i couldnt believe it was that covered in sludge. this is one good thread for quick easy maintanance. thanks sk and steviej.
my fault. the haynes service manual doesnt have a complete explanation about the 5 wires. i just noticed that two of the wires were a little fray near the connector. luckily no problems or check engine lights. just wanted to know more about the wires.
does anybody know for a 98 es300, which is the MAF sensor wire? there are 5 wires coming out the back of the sensor plug, im somewhat sure the red wire is for power.

No, the engine and tranny are built for tough driving. If you baby your car and drive like a grandmom, you will get carbon built up, which is bad for the engine.:chairshot:
