  1. Yours definitely is the wrong generation and that's why it didn't take to begin with. If it were the right one, it would have overwritten the previous ROM and you wouldn't be able to read your old DVD again!
  2. Actually I had both of my headlight assemblies replaced because of moisture condensation. After driving the vehicle for some 30 months, it just came from nowhere! But the dealer never asked any question and just replaced them — which made me think it's a regular occurrence!
  3. After driving my 04 RX for over two years, I just noticed for the first time that there were moisture condensation inside my adaptive headlights. The dealer replaced both of them and had the data dots put on while at it. Absolutely no charge!
  4. The new version for the following year is usually out by October.
  5. For the sake of those who haven't read the original post, I'm copying it here with some modifications for the pre-2005 RX: Press the MENU button, then press the DVD button (however the car must be stopped before the DVD button is available). Then touch the TOP LEFT of the screen, then the BOTTOM LEFT of the screen, then the TOP LEFT again, then the BOTTOM LEFT again, then finally touch the BOTTOM RIGHT of the screen. It will bring up the SYSTEM MENU. Press and hold the OVERRIDE button for about 3 seconds until it turns green, then hit BACK. If you do this while moving, you won't be able to edit until you stop the first time. If you are stopped when you do this, then you can continue to edit while moving. You MUST do this everytime you start your car.
  6. Actually it does work on the 04 330. All you need to do is to hold down the "Override" button for about three seconds until it turns green. Hope it's helpful! I sure appreciate knowing it!
  7. It looks great! Where did you get it and how much did you pay for it? Thanks.
  8. Hey, but then again, this was the original question: "Wife doesn't want a Wal-mart bag hung from the front armrests to collect the refuse, and I don't want crap all over the car. Is there a more aesthetic solution that someone out there is using, and where could I get that?" :P
  9. This link shows more details of the Clean Box, however I'm not sure whether it'll fit the RX330? This one is only $54! http://www.myautofashion.com/rx300cleanbox.html
  10. There is actually a very nice way to handle this problem -- it's called a Clean Box -- but it'll set you back $80! Check out this link: http://www.myautofashion.com/haclbox.html For your info: the Toyota Harrier is the Japanese version of the Lexus RX. Hope it's helpful!
  11. Could you please give us the store contact info or its URL address? Also, are you able to change the front emblem as well? Thanks.
  12. Thanks, RX in NC, I believe you hit the nail right on the head. I might have gone too far about the need for a completely separate RX330 forum, if specifying the model in the title line would work. Obviously this requires everybody's cooperation. Can the Management Team/Moderator encourage this practice in any way? SK, SW, others?
  13. With all due respect to SK, SW and Lexusfreak (who all happen to be ES owners), I believe the different forums are set up for the benefits to those who are owners of the respective model vehicles so they can discuss and look up specific issues that are unique to them. When the RX300 noise level has raised to the point where RX330 owners like myself are no longer willing to spend time browsing the site, I believe it's time to do something!
  14. With an increasing number of older RX300s coming onto the used car market and bringing with them their own wear-n-tear issues and the fact that RX330s have a different set of unique issues, I wonder whether it's time for RX330 owners to have our own separate forum? What do you all think?
  15. Press the "Clock" button and turn off "Daylight Saving Time." This is necessary because not all US municipalities subscribe to Daylight Saving Time.
  16. You can find just a bit of info on the 2004 upgrade on this website: http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...roduct%20Notes: Hope it's helpful!
  17. This is my third RX (previously '99 & '01) and I still love it. I did experience some annoying hesitation at first, but after the "ECM Calibration Shifting Enhancement," it's much better! But then again, I have the Performance Package which may have made a difference in its handling. I've compared the RX to just about all the competitions out there and still found it to be much better in both design and quality -- especially in its value. I have NOT regretted a bit about getting my third RX. In fact, if Lexus keeps it up, they may have a customer for life here!
  18. I've enjoyed my 04 RX with the Performance Package for over a year now and thoroughly love it! The sequential-shift and the air suspension are just only two features that make this SUV a joy to drive. I often use manual downshifting to control my speed and find it much easier to control my driving and the lowest air suspension makes the ride and control much like a sports car. Of course, the adaptive headlights and GPS and auto wipers are just pure icing on the cake. Other than the normal TSIB upgrades, I have absolutely no complaint about my RX. Go for it!
  19. Welcome to Lexus ownership and be assured that the NAV is totally maintenance free, except for updates of course. Unlike the previous CDROM version that required nine separate CDROMs to cover North America, it now uses the DVD technology that uses just one DVD ROM, which includes all of Canada as well. The NAV unit itself is in the back luggage area, underneath the panel, right where the tools are stored and, unless you are updating the ROM itself, there's no need to access it whatsoever. Enjoy your RX (as you maybe able to tell, I have truly enjoyed mine :P ) and have a great and safe trip to Canada. Bill
  20. Yes, mine came with the NAV and, to be frank, I don't think I will ever buy another vehicle without a NAV. I had purchased an aftermarket NAV (Alpine) for my 99 and a factory-installed one for my 01 and this one is by far the best and most flexible. I'm not sure whether the sequential maual shift uses a different logic or not but it surely comes in handy, especially when I want to downshift. Once in a while I would, just for the heck of it, put it in manual and can go from 0-60 in a quick hurry! I can definitely feel the tightness of the "low" mode in the air suspension when I'm driving on winding country roads. What can I say? I guess I'm just biased B)
  21. I waited almost two months last year for my Performance Package and have not regretted it a bit. I love the ability to shift manually when I want to. I love the air suspension adjustments when I'm going on a windy road. I love the adaptive headlights. I love all the other features that came with the Package. The only items that I wish would be included are the wood steering wheel and shift knob. What's there not to like?! :P
  22. I had an Alpine unit on an 99 RX and had it installed on the dash with a removable bracket. It worked really well.
  23. I believe the latest 2003 DVD-Based Navigation System Update has the part number: 00230-DVD03-CYx. If you want more info, you can check it with this link: http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...ubCategoryID=73
  24. There's an on/off switch on the mirror itself that you can use and there's no CBEST setting for it. Also you can find the complete CBEST listing from the main page here "Official Rx330 C-best Settings" posted by mfullmer.
  25. There is an Nav system update that came out the end of 2003 which added another 3 millions POIs, for a total of 5 million. The part number is 00230-DVD03-CYx and can be ordered online for $288. You can check out the details at http://www.lexus-parts.com/partdetail.asp?...ubCategoryID=73 I'm afraid that's probably the cheapest that I've seen anywhere.
