  1. It's not about the Lexus policy. It's about the dealer, and how willing they are to accommodate their customers. My dealer here in So Cal, (Lexus of Cerritos), has given me a loaner for things as simple as my 5,000 mile service. I'm sorry to hear that, especially in this financial climate, they are not willing to do something as simple as issue you a loaner car to keep you happy.
  2. Funny... I noticed the low level too, and all this time I thought that it was just kind of an 'eyebrow' effect from the way the lights are mounted under the hood and fenders. I'll have to make the adjustment to mine too.
  3. Same thing happened to me... right on the hood!! Fortunately, the next time I had my car in at the dealer, the customer service rep got her body shop guys to buff the scratches out. Luckily they weren't deep. Makes me wonder why some jackholes have to hate that way.
  4. This happened to me in my previous car, (2004 Infiniti G35), although, not to the same degree. I pulled the car up to work, and thought I was applying the brakes to stop and put the car in reverse. As I pressed the brake pedal, the car moved forward. I did just as NicLX470 mentioned, and pressed harder on the brake pedal. The car lurched forward, over a curb, into a shrub. As it lurched, I lifted my foot, and reapplied it to the brake, stopping the car. I was sure that I had my foot totally on the brake the first time, but afterward, it was apparent to me that I had kind of a 'heel/toe' thing going on, and the harder I pressed on the brake, the harder I was also pressing the accelerator. This may not have been your friend's experience, but I thought it was worth the post.
  5. Check your owner's link on the website. I've been out of touch for a while, but belated thanks for the hint, Tex! My owner's site claims no currently active service campaigns for my car. So, good news I guess.
  6. Wow... that really sucks. You must drive the freeway daily, huh? I took mine to Vegas last weekend, went through a sand storm, and it still didn't come out looking like that!
  7. I have to agree. It seems that no matter what the ambient temperature, if I turn on the 'Auto' feature, the AC comes on. Geeze, how I HATE reaching all the way to the dash and pushing that button! (jk) Well, at least it's a better system than in a VW bug! lol
  8. I feel for ya... I have a mild form of that affliction myself. It can make day to day life difficult at best in a world that is FAR from perfect or symmetrical. Just a thought... have you tried to pull the high side down, rather than trying to cinch the low side upward?
  9. Do those issues affect the '08 model year as well?
  10. I can't speak to the prices... but it seems to me like a perfect time to go for a body kit!
  11. Hello... I hope that this is being posted in the correct section of the forum. I have been trying to search a topic in the IS 250/350 forum, and keep getting this error: Board Message Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: One or all of your search keywords were below 4 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please go back and increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords. My searches were; Key Fob Programming the remote Any idea why I am getting this? Thanks in advance for any help.
  12. I agree... that is an absolutely perfect setup.
  13. Thanks Willie, I just found this earlier post that didn't pull up during my search http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=49495 No worries... welcome, and enjoy your noise free iPod!
  14. There is a TSIB regarding the fix. It is a ground loop filter that goes inline, and the dealer will do it for free. I had mine done, and it works great... the only downside is that it is a filter, and you will loose a bit of volume.
  15. Hey there Palermo22... I have to assume that you are asking in relation to concerns over potential warranty issues? Your owners guide spells out all of the required/suggested maintenance at each interval. You can take the car, and a list of what you would like done to any qualified mechanic for service. Just make sure to get a detailed receipt for the work done, so that, if an issue should arise, you have proof that you have done your due diligence with respect to your car's maintenance. The dealership cannot demand that you have your periodic service done only by them, nor can they void the warranty if you don't. I'm in the same position as you, in that I normally only put 6 or 7k per year on my car. By the time the 4 year contract is up on my IS, I will likely not even be at the 30k service yet! (An ideal car for their certified pre-owned inventory, and hopefully, a higher return on my trade!) I'll be getting all of my oil and filter changes done at the dealer, but only because I had them include an oil change service contract into my financing.
  16. In my experience, the conventional wisdom has been to "always put the best tires on the front" when rotating or replacing tires, but since we have, as you noted, staggered tire sizes front to back, this is not relevant. I have never heard that you need to replace all four, if only two are in need. (Assuming that the two that need replacing are not one front and one rear). You should try to replace with the same brand, and size, and you should never replace only one tire in the front or back... (unless the tires are brand new). That's just my .02 Others may have had dissimilar experiences. I hope that was of some help!
  17. I don't think that the car will let you lock up with the fob anywhere inside. I know that it won't if it is in the passenger area. I've made the mistake of leaving it in my racquetball bag, trying to leave the car and lock the doors. It just beeps at me to let me know I'm trying to be a dumb-a$$! lol I've never tried to leave it in the trunk and lock the doors, but I'd bet that the result would be the same.
  18. The IS is designed to be a sport/luxury vehicle. It is also a relatively small car, and as a result of those two points, you will feel more of the shift than you would in a larger luxury car. What did you drive, a Lincoln, or a Mercury? What model was it? The size, power, and suspension would make a big difference in the feedback you got from the car. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles have been notorious for having pretty mushy suspensions, with the exception of the Mustang, and maybe the new Mark and 500 platforms. That said, I have to also say that I don't feel the shifts in my '08 250 very much, unless I have my foot deep into the long skinny pedal... but then, when I do that, I am usually taking the revs up, and paddle shifting. However, when I am driving more aggressively, I do notice a lag between depression of the gas pedal, and reaction of the car. Part of that is the traction control. In new cars with auto trans, it is very difficult to spin the rear wheels... but I digress.
  19. Lexi LOL!! I think we actually have a thread that discusses this debate also. Is it Lexuses, Lexi, or what? I'm guessing it should be Lexuses since Lexus is an acronym for Luxury Export United States.... It used to be only for the United States but they sell em in Europe too....so they should change the badge to Lexeu (sounds french) That's actually a rumor, which originated in Australia: The Lexus brand The grille of a Lexus IS featuring the Lexus emblem. In 1986, Toyota's longtime advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi formed a specialized unit, Team One, to handle marketing for the new luxury brand.[20] Image consulting firm Lippincott & Margulies was hired to develop a list of 219 prospective names; Vectre, Verone, Chaparel, Calibre and Alexis were chosen as top candidates.[21] While Alexis quickly became the front runner (also associated with the Alexis Carrington character on the popular 1980s primetime drama Dynasty) and later morphed to Lexus,[21] the name has been attributed to the combination of the words "luxury" and "elegance."[22] According to Team One interviews, the name has no specific meaning and simply denotes a luxurious and technological image,[21] although Lexus in Australia claim the original name is short for Luxury Export to United States. (LExUS).
  20. Believe me... that has nothing to do with age. from the youngest to the oldest of us, we are all here for the same reason; the love of our cars. Add me to the "looks back in admiration" club! Welcome, and by the way,
  21. That's the kind of customer service I'm talking about! Good for you!
  22. Hey rookie... I found this during a Google search. It seems like a pretty thorough chain of command, if you are serious about getting an issue resolved: I would raise my complaint(s) in the following order: Sales/Service Rep Sales/Service Manager General Manager Dealership Owner Lexus USA Regional Rep (they usually visit the dealership once a week or so) the dealer should provide this contact to you. Lexus USA Regional Manager Lexus USA HQ (Torrance CA) 800-255-3987 e-mail link:http://lexus2.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/lexus... So you're suggesting that I start from the lowest and keep harassing them with my complaint? Hahaha thanks man, I'll try something like that. Yeah.... only cause there is a chain of command, and if you are already getting questionable service from the dealer, at least you'll have a record of having given them the chance to make it right before going over their heads. However, if you want to skip all of that, there is a contact on the Lexus owner's website. All you have to do is log into your Lexus owners page, and click on the 'Contact Lexus' link. (Which, I believe is the same site as the e-mail link above). Or just call the Torrance CA 800 number and get them involved right out of the box. By the way... gotta love the fire breathing Phelps gif!!
  23. Right there with ya barkat... I have run Chevron exclusively in my last two cars. I heard from a very reputable mechanic that Techron is a very effective additive.
  24. Thanks for the help! and boy you guys are a tough crowd. ive never been part of a forum before, and ive only had my car for a week... and when i couldnt find the answer on the web, i figured i would ask some experts. im not too familiar with forums so sorry for posting if i shoulda searched first? i just read all the recent open topics and threads and when i couldnt find it there, i posted a new topic. but thanks again to everyone who responded.
