If you want the WRX with a slathering of luxury, then go with the new Saab. 9.2X It is the WRX platform with luxury accompanyments. Look further down the road. The IS will have the better resale value. Any RWD car is do-able in the NE with a dedicated set of snow/winter tires from Dec to March. If you got TRAC then that's a plus. I would go with the Lex. steviej

What you save later under the CPO warranty costs may make up for what you think you are losing here. please help me out: CPO warranty= bumper to bumper for 3 years or total vehicle mileage of 100,000 miles No CPO warranty = 30 or 60 day warranty maybe? please fill in the blank. what ever you do, DO NOT have the auto- or machine flush done if in fact the fluid is original. The fluids today are much better manufactured and can dislodge any sediment that may be holding back leaks. This sediment can also be dislodged by the force of the flush of these machines thus causing clogs in the lines and tranny itself. A suggestion would be to do the drain and fill technigue in your driveway. Do this over the course of several months. Drain the tranny from the plug, add 3-4 quarts back in and drive normally for 1000 miles. Repeat this process every 1000 miles or so for 4 times. This way the old tranny fluid is gradually replace with new. (It will cost you $20 and an hour of your time each time you do it). At some point you may consider dropping the tranny pan to clean out any sediment, clean the magnets and clear/clean the but re-usable metal mesh filter. That will require a tranny pan gasket replacement too. steviej

jragosta, you are correct, it was the Audi 5000. That problem made it all the way to 60 minutes. One of the outcomes of that issue was the requirement that there be a PARK lock switch that was deactivated by stepping on the brake pedal. It has been equiped on every automatic tranny car since. steviej

look on the sticker that is on the driver's door jam. The color codes should be there. The 2000 color codes for the RX are: 057-Golden Pearl 1C0-Millenium Silver 202-Black Onyx 3M8-Venetian Red 3N6-Dk Red Mica 4P2-Burnished Gold 6R1-Green 6R6-Grayish Green 8M8-Blue Mica I don't know what the color codes are for the cladding, but if you find your body color code on the door jam, the other will be the cladding. Another way to find it: Register you vehicle on www.lexus.com. Under Onwer's Registration You will get a listing of the options installed at time of production and the colors. (you can even get an owner's manual for free.) steviej

Not in the immediate future. The GS is the first one to go AWD, it will debut in the 2006 model. I read recently that Lexus/Toyota is headed toward making a version of each model in an AWD platform. Given the current trend away from huge gas guzzliing SUV's, I'm not surprised. This will give them the traction option that people desire but maintain a non-truck like ride. Coarse, like life, this could change next week. I like in just south of Boston and can relate to the weather issues. However, a RWD car with a dedicated set of snow tires (the technology here has come a long way) from Dec to March and traction control will get you through the worst of days. Don't give up hope. An IS is most definately doable in NE. steviej

Walt, did your ES330 come with the variable suspension package? Easy way to tell, is there a button to the left of the shift lever that is not for the rear sunshade? If so, is it in the sport mode? My 02 ES has one of the smoothest ride I have ever had. If you don't have the variable suspension, then our suspensions are the same. Mine came with V-Rated Bridgestones (RE92) and now I have Dunlop Sport A2. Both have been at 32 lbs and the ride is as smooth as silk. steviej

Nunyabiz, I'm in the same boat as you. I have been using synthetic (mobil 1 5w-30) in this lex and 10w-30 in my previous SSEi. Never had a problem. The comment about the source of the sacred Toyota brand oil relates to previous discussions in this thread and in other threads. I might add that the Toyota person I talked to also said: "it really doesn't matter what brand oil you use, as long as it is changed at least every 5000 miles". He went on to say that the Toyota labelled oil is no better or no worse than the popular name brands. I would also like to add that according to many sources, including Mobil 1 themselves, you CAN switch back and forth from synthetic to conventional as often as you would like. steveij

I forgot to mention: I also tried the Rain-X brand Winshield Washer Fluid. It was outrageously expensive and didn't work any better than the $1.30/gallon stuff. steviej
