How complicated is a brake fluid flush on an IS250? I need to do it before an advanced driving course.

Indeed. The 335xi should be compared to the is350, not the is250. Remember that when the g35 first came it, it stomped all over the old 330i at lower price point, then the is350 followed suit. BMWs response was run back to the drawing board, and the best they could do was slap a poorly cooled turbo on the engine. I'm waiting for the next gen G or IS, they will probably leap ahead of them again. Have nothing against BMW, they do a got job, but give credit where it's due. The Japanese are on BMWs a** like a lawnmower on grass.

Manual says 5w30, but Toyota sent out an internal memo saying 5w20 is an acceptable alternative for most 2006+ engines, including all IS250s built at Tahara and Kyushu. There is no significant advantage I belive other than a marginal increase in fuel economy.

Normal mode seems to favor the 1/4 mile. What about 0-60? It may be different becaus eyou won't get past 3rd gear.

Is-F doesn't use a sequential manual gearbox. It's still an auto, just a very fast one.

Somehow the dealer inadvertently reset my fuel consumption meter to imperial, so I'm guessing the settings are all there and can be modified. Interestingly my range, temp, average speed are all still metric. The odometer/trip computer can't be reset I believe. There all laws against that!

Well obviously they can do it since they did it to my car. Don't think the reflashed the whole ECU because all my other personalized settings seem identical. Do I have to go back just to hav ethis dumb thing changed?

Anyone figure this out? I just brought back my car from Toyota after programming a new set of TPMS and now it reads fuel consumption in mpg instead of L/100km. How did this happen?

Update: Got a set of Dunlop Wintersport 205/55R16, 16x7 cheap-o rims, and TPMS from tirerack. Took them to Toyota and they charged me 1/2 hour of labor to program them and it went fine. Everything was fully compatible. Thanks to Doc Horvath at tirerack.com for his advice.

My suggestion: get a Garmin or whatever for nav. Then get the ipod adapter (Lexus, VAIS or whatever) and move the ipod to the glove compartment.

The standard tires on the AWD are Potenza RE92s which are not the best tires around. I'm sure you can find an H-rated tire that's better than the V-rated stock. If you are looking for ride comfort, less noise and more tread life, you can certainly do better.

Chatted with a rep and tirerack and they tell me they get their TPMS from the same OEM as Lexus at a fraction of the price. They also print the ID codes on a separate sheet for you. Just ordered a set of 16" rims, winter tires and TPMS from them. I found a Toyota dealer willing to program it for me. I'll keep you posted on compatibility issues.

What I'd really like to see is carmakers go to a standard interface in the dash for nav units. Then you could purchase the nav unit of your choice and plug it in the space provided. But that will never happen of course. Too much money to be made by charging people 2K for 300$ worth of electronics.

The back seat in the IS is a joke, be warned. The ES does not handle as well as the IS, and has a softer ride.
