  1. That's still 15 years below the average LS owner.
  2. Mine's in 6th most of the time above 30 MPH with slight gas or on cruise. Ahh yess.... forgot about that 6th gear :D
  3. On the freeway, it's a wash. You're on 5th most of the time anyway.
  4. YEs and no. If you go light on the gas, it will not be noticeable, and PWR may actually get better in some cases, as the normal mode tends to "lug" the engine in high gear on inclines. On the other hand, if you drive more aggressively you loose one or 2 mpg.
  5. Order the Lexus kit from Sewell Online for less than half that price, and take it to a local shop or install it your self. It's just a snap in adaptor.
  6. I'm guessing there is a rich lawyer and a decapitated pet story behind this one.
  7. The absolute fastest acceleration is obtained by leaving the transmission in d, set the ECT to normal, and floor the accelerator as hard and fast as possible.
  8. Drive it to Vermont and have it serviced there! This is unacceptable. I brought my car SPinelli (LAchine) for the 1 year service and I got a wash, had the interior cleaned, floormats rinsed and got loaner for the day (COrolla, was good enough). As I said in the previous thread, they are going out of their way to *BLEEP* you off because you bought the car in the US.
  9. Bah.... I run all four wheels at 36. Simpler that way. My gauge doesn't have marks for odd number.
  10. If you are picky about oil, you can bring in your bran if you like.
  11. In theory, US LExus dealers are forbidden to sell new cars to Canadian residents. Either you buy used, or get an Infiniti.
  12. On a related note, where can I get the 4 missing bolts so that I can no longer use the wheel locks?
  13. You will probably be well treated because you are visitor. Canadian dealers go out of their way to mistreat Canadian residents who imported US cars.
  14. Are you using the SAT radio or LExus IPOD adapter? This problem happened to me after they installed my IPOD adaptor. There is connection at the back of the stereo that gets knocked loose sometimes, and kills all the audio control functions. The solution is to push it in properly until it snaps.
  15. The dealer is under no obligation to give you the car wash (i.e. scratch your clear coat) or the loaner for routine service. He must however honor the warranty, since Lexus has not rescinded their warranty on imports. As a side note, it's cheaper for me to take may car to regular garage, rent a car and then have the Lexus detailed elsewhere than to do my service at SPinelli. TOyota President on Ste Catherine W will work on your Lexus, no questions asked, for much cheaper. Ask for Stephane. He even reprogrammed my TPMS for 40$
  16. It takes about 20 minutes of driving for the alarm to go off. If your old set is near the car when you start it, they will be recognized.
  17. The only serious flaw with JD power is it relies on self reports, volunteer surveys and memory, and as such is prone to several biases. CR surveys subscribers, which has it's own bias issues. No single source should be taken as being the final truth.
  18. Toyota understates the 0-60 times of all their cars. Most rags clocked the IS 250 AWD in the high 7 seconds. Lexus claims 8.6. I bet the 350 can actually go faster too.
  19. Tungsten pearl metallic is grey/silver. Not white.
  20. No. The computer will refuse shifts that would force the engine beyond redline.
  21. 1. As temp drops all your LCD displays will slow down and image changes will lag. It may not be evident at 10 or 20 Fahrenheit, but at -20 Celsius, it is apparent. 2. There's a another thread about that somehere. The consensus was crank up the heated seats and get a block heater. There is no easy way to do it. 3. The 4gr-fse develops much of it's power in the higher region of the power band. Because it's a small V6, it will easily rev up to that speed to develop the needed power and thus the noise. Also. lexus made a conscious decision to tune this car more aggressively than their usual geezer mobiles, seeing as the intended market is different. 4. Plenty. None will give you power. On a side note, be very careful with the Lexus AWD and all seasons in winter. This is a heavily RWD biased car. The AWD and VSC mitigate that somewhat, but the back will come loose much easier than a FWD car, especially with VSC off. I spent the weekend on an ice covered race track and I can tell you that it can be handful when traction is limited. The point is, drive slow. AWD won't save you once all four wheels break loose.
  22. Since you already had dedicated summer tires, I would have gone with a set of dedicated winters, and swap them every fall and spring. Michigan gets a fairly respectable winter, and it's worth the investment.
  23. The rubber cap that goes on the block heater plug froze solid this morning and fell off. It fell through the slot at the front of the engine compartment, and I can now see it lying inside the front bumper behind the lower air intake grill. Any way to fish that thing out? I don't want to remove the whole damn bumper for this.
