  1. The panoramic sunroof on your UL is NOT controlled by the button on your remote. There are NO personality settings that can change how this operates. Thanks amf...I didn't think so. Even though the book says the sunroof will open....it doesn't say non-panoramic roof only I don't think. The bright side is that my car is working properly then!! Oh well....gotta look at the bright side.
  2. The Lexus hover craft...now there is an idea!!! I am waiting for the Lexus transporter...beam me up Scotty! lol
  3. hey saabkyle, we all hate you now in this forum....17 and an Lexus!!!! are you one of those wiz kids that invented google???? ha ha...just kidding! more power to you! enjoy the lexus (ok...some of us may envy you a little...took us 43 years longer to get our first Lexus).......
  4. Hey dcfish, someone told me that if you have a panoramic roof, the sunroof won't open......mine doesn't so in 2000 miles for my 5000 mile check I am going to ask the dealer to check this. But it definitely doesn't work now.
  5. Gee saabkyle, no I have not had that.....gee I hope I don't either! I have the ML and the rear sunshade. And yes, there is a way to minimize the base and where the balance of the sound. Hit your AUDIO button and then in the bottom left of the screen (assuming you have an 08 ES350 here) press the SOUND or button. It should show your the four seats and a cross hair that you can move side to side or front to back (kind of like a balance that most cars have). But with the ML you can move the sound diagonally to I believe. In this same screen, you can adjust the base treble and midrange + or -). I hope this helps! Good luck! Also, keep asking and people on this forum will respond...they are great! We Lexus owners are great!!!!
  6. detaildoc, I am just glad you live is CA....yes, my wife hates you...but she still doesn't believe that I will do it! Hey rtj, yep, I am doing my wife's first so I can finally get out of the doghouse! And, yes your car is superior cause it is in your driveway! But mine isn't that bad either! :D As far as the summer, only have had my car since Dec and here in PA, not hot yet...but hey, that's what the cooled seats are for, right? Will post pics.....when I get the chance to use this cool stuff!!!!
  7. Love the black on black on your IS! I also have the black on black but in the ES! Black on black is the only way to go (in my opinion!!!). welcome to the black on black lexus family (BOB LF)!
  8. Hey rjt, great to hear it! Nice pics too............hey! When did you take my car!!!! Mine is exactly the same....love the black on black and pan roof! Hey detaildoc....I am hurt ... :cries: You didn't remember me and with all the questions I have given you.....ha ha!!!! just kidding. I think we need to make a new instant message abbreviation though...maybe Join Great Team (JGT) of detailing...ha ha! I am mad though...I came home early to potentially start my virgin detail.......and it is frickin' 40 with the wind chill....and it's supposed to rain this weekend. I want to use my stuff (so I can ask you detaildoc more questions)!!!! :D
  9. Hey kilrone, are you back from your boondoggle yet (albeit a great golf boondoggle)?
  10. Ok.........we all need to get a life!!!! LOL! And, you know what.......I actually like that last swish of the windshield wipers. My old Bonneville didn't do it and always left risidual water that I had to do it anyway....the Lexus does it for me. Oh well, to each his own! :-) [did I put enough emoticons in this darn post?]
  11. Hey rjt, great to hear it! Have fun and let's compare pics of the cars when we are done! Hopefully, it will get nice enough for us to "get r dun"!
  12. Thanks detaildoc. Got all my stuff and each time I thought I would start after work this week....I got delayed and got home after dark....darn! But it should be in the next week or two. I am starting with the sealant (Ultima Paint Guard Plus). Thanks for the tip of doing it 2-3 times because I was going to do one coat (wait 12 hrs) and then put on the P21S-100 carnauba wax. I now will plan on 2 coats! (I don't see any swirls - but it is dirty even though I did hose down my car at a car wash (just water/soap spray). Thanks again.
  13. Hey detaildoc, you are the ninja of detailing!!! (I would have put a superman with a cap there but couldn't find that emoticon)!
  14. Gee, didn't know this was a Microsoft and Apple bashing forum!!! ha ha! Yeah Baddboi, and we all will be working at Spacely Sprockets!!! haha! I am just waiting for the Star Trek era....I can't wait for a transporter. Of course, you don't want to be an "extra" that gets transported to another planet....they always died!!! haha!
  15. I had a HUD in my 2001 Pontiac Bonneville.....loved it!!! I am not sure but it still is available on some GM cars (cant remember if it was the Buick or Cadillac I looked at that had the HUD as an option). LOL on the Microsoft Sync......not only will the windows close (or lock up) and the car will crash....the screen will go to the blue screen of death or have an never ending hour glass!!!
  16. Uh oh, another acronym....GOD - gods of detailing!! I am more of a NOD....novice of detailing! I heard Zaino is good also. I heard it is more for those that have machines like UDM or PC and I am not to that stage yet. I want to do mine by hand. I am not trying to make my car a show vehicle!! Don't know about tail pipes! I don't think I am touching mine!
  17. Hey I still get crap from some of my friends when I would only bet a nickel in a card game (and all they were asking for was a minimum 25 cents)!!! I am cheap! Of course, that is how I got to buy my new ES, nickels I saved up from not betting too high in card games! LOL
  18. Regarding the leather, I was going to use the cockpit cleaner (it does say you can use it on leather). However, I was not sure if that would protect it or not (on my Bonneville I used to hand rub in Meguiars leather conditioner)....I also was thinking about the Sonus or Lexol bundle. On the glass, yep, I was worried about that on the glass since I think you recommended a Sonus or Der Wunder towel....I think I bought this to get to a certain % savings on one website (gee, I spent this much, sometimes I go nuts with trying to save money where I can...oh well). I really plan to use this on the outside panoramic roof but we will see. Hey, as you can see, I am just learning!
  19. You are da man! I need to get you some Bud Light!! haha. Whew! Thanks. Yes, my car is new (Dec) with about 3000 miles on it (you have a good memory). It has gotten very dirty over the winter here so I am looking forward to detailing it next weekend. Thanks again!
  20. Hey SW, I agree on your suggestions!!! That digital clock though....argh (I think they made the lights on the buttons around the nav system to match that awful green old digital clock). Now, the Cadillac CTS has digital readouts for the temperature (driver and passenger)...they were a little more modern in my opinion than that ugly digital clock in our ES. But, hey, I would rather have the resale value, quiet and comfort of my ES and the bluetooth (that the CTS did not have).
  21. Hey al, I did 6 months of research before I bought my new 08 ES UL and nowhere did I read that it was a good thing. In PA, my dealer tried to sell something called TMZ. Again, not sure if this is the same but sounds like it. Consumer reports also recommends not getting this done (not sure how you feel about CR but it is one of the several data points that I had when I said no.). Also, listen to SW03ES, he does know what he is talking about. If you want to get into detailing your own car (don't know if you have the time...I don't either but I want to do it the first time at least and maybe I will get the detailing bug). But, here is a link to a post I started since I am dumb and knew nothing...now I at least know something through the help of SW03ES (and others like detaildoc and mrburnikas). Good luck. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=45222
  22. Hey xfactor70, sounds like you are new to this stuff like me. I started another post that you might want to read through. mrburnikas, SW03ES and detaildoc sure helped me and they do provide answers to my questions throughout the post. The link is: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=45222 Now, if you are experienced with this and just have the Zaino question, don't bother with this link....good luck.
  23. You should not have to wait. Cars that come straight from the dealer are still exposed to the elements and are not always protected with high quality wax or sealant or even any at all. Most of the time the dealers just apply a glaze to give it shine and hide the swirl marks that are already on the paint from all the hosing down and drying of the car at the dealer. Think about it this way, do you really think the dealer will be waxing or applying a sealant every month on 100's of cars they have there to keep them protected? No way! When you take delivery of the car, it appears really clean, but that is just surface appearance. First thing I did was wash it and clay it, and the clay came out pretty dirty even though it was a new car. Apply some wax or sealant now. Hey detaildoc, again, thanks for all the help. One other question, I have bought everything except the clay kit. But, the more and more I read (and your last post here got me thinking), I am thinking maybe I should clay before I use the paint sealant my first time (should be next week). Is the Meguiars clay kit at Wal-mart/OTC ok to use or should I go back and buy from autopia or pinnacle...etc. the cost is about the same without more shipping. Remember, I am in the doghouse for spending all this money...however, I don't want to screw up buying something cheap! Thanks for an answer on this "latest" question!
  24. Agree with a classy analog clock (gee, even a more modern LED clock would be ok). The voice recognition is something that could be enhanced. Gee, even the Ford Focus Sync system seems to work better than ours. My big issue is that it should have a way to operate the nav while driving. In Hertz rent a cars, if you try to operate it while driving, it says "do you want the passenger to use this" and if you say yes, it enables it. Either that or firm up the voice recognition. Has anyone figured out how to have your nav system (via voice) to search for an POI like a golf course (I don't mean show the POIs). I mean trying to get a list of golf courses, scrolling down the list, and then setting one as your destination (while driving). I don't think that is available and I wish it was.....oh well, I hope Lexus is reading this forum for the 2010 ES!!!! Wonder if we will get a royalty!!! ha ha
  25. Hey how much did you spend in total? I am ordering similar (some changes) and am over 230$ already on Autopia. (still need bucket and sponge, maybe one or 2 applicator sponges inside) What coupon code did u use? cheers Hey rtj65, I went to 3 different sites; autopia (over $150 so I used the 15% off code), pinnacle ($70), and autogeek (included the bucket - $70). Yep, that is why my wife put me in the doghouse. Hey, you only live once...and the doghouse is as good as any place...lol!
