  1. Dave, I have my "snare drum and high hat" in my office and I am turning the big 50 in June! Uh oh, and I bought an 08 ES (probably what you paid for your 02 LS) and I play golf................omg, I am my DAD!!! When did that happen!!! Watch out nyuhsuk, it will happen to you too!!!! LOL
  2. Is that one of those hangers that you hang on one of the headrest posts in the back of the driver's seat? got a link on this? i have not heard or seen of this...
  3. Uh oh, you caught me! I really have an 18 handicap (I am a sandbagger!). Hey, one other thing, I don't bet on golf (one because I am really that bad, and two, I don't want to ruin the game for me! I like competing against the course not against those I am playing the round with...just a stupid quirk I have). By the way, I think you and kilrone will appreciate this. I have a buddy in my regular foursome that doesn't want to put his HIGH scores in for his handicap!!!!! What!!!??? I tried to explain to him that you want a "realistic" handicap so you can use it to even the playing field. Apparantly he wants to be able to say he has a low handicap!!!! omg!!!! He is funny though! lol
  4. I am doing it to my new car (bought it in Dec but with the winter here in PA, could not detail it)....however, I would have done it to mine if it brand new and was in the summer. I read alot of people like the California duster....I just don't know though....with all I read about using the proper car wash, and sealant and use microfiber towels all to avoid scratching, I would think the CA duster would scratch the paint. But again, I am not the expert. I hope detaildoc can help or SW03ES...they are "da men"! B) by the way, I will try to attach my excel spreadsheet to this. now please, a disclaimer here, I don't own stock or don't do this for a living so it is just what I put together for me since I don't plan on making detailing my life (plus I am not going to do it every week....can't with the job and life....). So for your use only and use it at your risk (gee, I feel like I am a NFL broadcast here...."...without the expressed written consent of the NFL..ha ha). Ooops, can't upload it; I guess we can upload an excel spreadsheet here...sorry!
  5. LOL AZ!!!!! Hey SW, what OEM hangar???
  6. Uh Oh AZ, maybe kilrone is the ringer!!! I would say I shoot in the 80s, but I would mean temperature not score!!! lol. I am about a 16 handicap....mid 90s (not temperature, score). Still, we would have some fun! Ok I think I blew it now; you guys are going to tell me the LOC TWDS Annual Golf Outing is in Texas while you two play in Arizona...yeah that's it. AZ is a 9 handicap and kil is a 12....I am doomed. You will have me at some muni while you play at a tpc!!! LOL FORE!
  7. I agree with you also!!! Hey but that is what forums like this are for right? The good, the bad, and the ugly...but for Lexus, it is the great, the good, and the minor issues! Of course I would add that I have some minor transmission surge issues at 20mph and 35-40mph and some minor creaks inside. I wish though the would get away from the 1960s LED clock!!!! It looks like an old Timex digital watch I used to have.........haha!
  8. Hey SW03ES, I don't get it but.....my wife did! She liked the "dual" headlights and the rear lights better than the ES (I actually like the rear lights better also). Plus on the inside there were some amenities that she liked better than the ES (the extra storage in the console, the "normal" opening of the console compartment (even though I am getting used to the ES), and the squared off look around the nav system (squared off boundary with circular buttons vs. the circular boundary and the square buttons on the inside)). Now I hope you can tell that this was my wife noticing this stuff. When I rented our first apartment for us (without her seeing it), the first question she asked me was what color the kitchen/bathroom was....and I told her I didn't know but I knew that it HAD a kitchen and a bathroom! Men are from Mars and Women from Venus!!! lol! Hey, by the way, just want to make sure you know that I give you and detaildoc ALL the credit on me understanding detailing a little better...going to do it next weekend after I get my stuff..thanks again!
  9. Interesting article I read today (I didn't save the link) but Hyundai on their new Genesis have been backpedalling after a South Korean newpaper reporter gave the Genesis poor marks on handling, suspension, etc. Hyundai has now been saying that the American version will have sportier suspension. Hey, I drove a Sonata (which is not a bad looking car), and "it ain't no Lexus"!!!! And, I wonder about the durability.
  10. Just my opinion here and not dissin' the rest of you (gee, big word dissin I used there ha ha!) but SW03ES and detaildoc are the ones that have just been super in helping a novice like me. Hey SW03ES, check out my update under my other post that you were so helpful for me on (the Cleaning and Maintenance of New Lexus). You and detaildoc really helped me and I ordered all the stuff (wife is mad but I will do here car first to get on her good side....I hope ):whistles: I got the Sonus Der Wunder waffle weave MF towel. I would be afraid of the blade; just like I have not got up the nerve to use a clay bar!!!! So anyway, once I am done with my first "virgin" effort, I will post pics in the other post for all to see (unless I really screw up!)!!!!
  11. Hey rjt65 glad I could help but it is SW03ES and detaildoc that deserve all the credit in getting me to a point where I felt comfortable in buying all this stuff! By the way, good luck in picking up the car!!!! Don't forget to post some pics, it is easy to reply to this and UPLOAD your pics!!! If I can do it, anyone can! Hey for the washing, I am using the Ultima Paint Guard Wash with a Lowes Proline Tile & Grout sponge (which is in the cleaning aisle at Lowes not in the tile/grout aisle). Then I am going to use the Pinnacle Wheel/Tire Cleaning kit. Once I dry the car (with the Der Wunder Drying towell), I am going to use the Ultima Paint Guard Sealant, let it cure and then use the P21s-100 carnauba wax (using all microfiber towels). Again, detaildoc and SW03ES along with a few others paved the way for me! By the way, I looked at the hog hair brush from Pinnacle but over $50 didn't turn me on for that...but it appeared to be ok. detaildoc or SW03ES, any advice here for rtj65?
  12. Hey jcrome04, I will tell you though, I really teed off a Jag owner. I went up to them and said "Wow! Is that the new Kia Amanti!!!!" Phew, you should have seen their face!!!! lol
  13. detaildoc, just an update. I bit the bullet and ordered my first detailing supplies. Thanks for all your help...you da man! Here is the list below (I combined some things into the autopia buy to get the 15% off of $150 or more...gee did I say $150...omg, my wife is definitely going to kill me...plus I used her credit card...oh well, one or two more nights in the doghouse! ha ha). :cries: I decided I am going to do the sealant as you can see (Ultima Paint Guard Plus)...but I am not ready for the clay yet. Plus, I am going to do my wife's car first to test all this out (see where I am going with this....show her how nice her car will look...of course I want to screw up her car before I touch my baby..what's a few more days in the doghouse OR I can get out if I pull this off!!!!!) :whistles: Pinnacle Wheel & Tire Kit Bucket w/Grit Guard Ultima Paint Guard Wash Lowes Grout Sponge Sonus Vision Glass & Plastic Cleaner Cobra Microfiber Glass Towel P21s-100 Carnauba Wax Microfiber Towels - Pack of 3 Sonus Der Wunder Drying Towel 2-pack Sonus Cockpit Cleaner Bundle Ultima Interior Guard Plus Ultima Detail Spray Ultima Paint Guard Plus Thanks again for all your help (and just so you don't worry, I never mentioned your name!!! She would find you!)..haha. Hey if you see any issues here, don't hesitate to yell and correct me!!! Didn't start on the cars yet!
  14. Hey rjt65, welcome to the club. I replied to another message of yours. I bought mine in Dec 07....exactly what you bought (black on black, UL etc). I looked at all the cars you looked at and more. You are right on about the GS...what is up with those humps!!! Especially the one in the drivers well! Not to mention, the loss of about 3 cu ft in the trunk! For about 7K less, I thought the ES did just fine. Now, let me advise you of something regarding this forum. You are going to get the good and the bad! Now, I think that is good. Read the posts on the problems and be ready for them. Hopefully you won't have any but we all have some. My issues (so far and I have about 3000 miles on mine) is the transmission surges at 20mph and 40mph (in my car this helps sometimes in snow etc). Also, I have some "creaks" or what some call "ticking" noises inside (mine happens mainly when it is cold out). When I take my car in at the 5000 mile checkup, I am going to bring these up. So, hopefully they will be fixed. Others have had some major issues....but again, wait and see. I do like my car and I like the comfort and quietness (except the creaks). I just wanted to warn you since I have been here now for 3 months and you just need to be ready. Also, check the post on General Cleaning and Maintenance, I started a post about how I should clean and maintain my cars appearance. If you want to start what is called "detailing", look there for some advice. The link is below. Good luck and welcome!!!! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry297880
  15. Very good rjt65! Not bad at all! Hey, ilovelexus2007, ha ha! I agree though that comparatively (price, options, comfort, quietness) the Lexus ES is the leader. However, I don't think our Lexus has the handling in the corners (or what driver enthusiasts call "performance") can compare to BMW. But for about 10-15K more, I am ok with our ES!
  16. Looks like Scottsdale will be 87 today, and so will Tucson... Kilrone, you guys should plan coming down to Tucson and trying out the Gallery, where the Accenture World Match Play took place. What a beautiful course with desert valley and mountain views! You can catch some Spring Training games as well... Hey AZ, you sound a bit too anxious and you are referencing a great course (of course all course in AZ are great). Watch out kilrone, I think AZ is a ringer!!!! One of those guys that gets you on the course (and says he is an ok golfer) and then kicks your (and our) butts!!!! That's him there kicking our butts---> :chairshot: haha
  17. Ok kilrone, able to retire at 53! What company did that! Gee, wish I got that email when I was looking for a job!!! Hey, it was 52 degrees here in PA and I got in 36 holes!!! I didn't even sweat and I bet you did...haha!!! I am glad I get to drive my Lexus because I sure can't drive with my driver!!!!
  18. You are probably right there TomWoodLexus....but I have to tell you, I looked hard at the GS350 before I bought my ES. I just didn't see the "best value" for the additional monies. It wasn't about being able to afford it either, it was that the room in the ES (interior and trunk) which was much better than the GS. I liked the outside and inside styling more in the GS but it wasn't worth it to me. Now, maybe the GS460 is better but if it had all the AWD stuff (like less trunk space and the hump in the driver's well), I still wouldn't get it. Now, the LS is a different story...maybe that will be my next car...not sure though! Need to make more money because that would be an affordability issue!
  19. Yep, can't have it all with a major redesign...major? ha ha! It is a little disappointing though that Toyota/Lexus doesn't have a better understanding of their customers...plus how much can 2 hooks really cost? Gee, they could put them in the glove compartment and have us put them on!!! Oh well....still like my car though!
  20. Way to go, Nelsjay! Now you should look at the write up on how to take care of your new baby. There's good stuff on how to maintain the interior (leather, etc) and how to treat the paint, etc. And, it was all written by our very own LOC administrator, SW03ES!!! Yeah nelsjay, I started a post also (and SW03ES and detaildoc have been a great help). I started it because I am a novice/virgin/whatever when it comes to what is termed "detailing" your new Lexus (aka washing/waxing/etc). The link is: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry297880 It has some good stuff in it that AZ08LexusES mentioned! I am about to buy all the stuff I need to detail my new Lexus....but man my wife is not going to be happy on me spending a few hundred bucks!!!!
  21. Sweet ride JGT. Was your TWDS in place when you took this picture? We should all post ours with this option installed! I'll put mine up as soon as I get a picture... Nope, didn't have that option installed yet....this was the day I brought her home! But the TWDS options was installed soon after!!! Gee, the creaks and transmission surges on my ES also have found their way into my TWDS...go figure!!! lol
  22. Gee, I hope you are talking income not age!!! ha ha!! $145K sounds high to me though. Maybe if you want an LS but not an ES. I know guys at my work that have tricked out trucks that cost more than my 08 ES350 UL!!! And I don't think they make this much (nor do I).
  23. Hey kilrone and AZ, the midwest or Texas suits me. And, I think we might be able to get Lexus to pony up something and maybe the LOC!!! We all have to test our TWDS!!! But I can't play till I fix my driver (I keep hitting the darn thing on the heel/hosel...gosh, I was hitting it great there for awhile and I am hitting all my other clubs ok....man!) Hey I just checked the USGA LOC TWDS rule book and that is rule 9.1.1. It is also under rule 30-3 (e) Best Ball and Four Ball Match Play Disqualification of Side, "if said player or players do not hit saloon before round, the side is disqualified"!!! ha ha.....hey, we gotta make this thing happen, we would have a blast! By the way kilrone, as you can tell from the word "blast" I used in that last sentence and from what you said "a light tint job on the windows", I think we are both in a mid-life crisis! Gosh, tinted windows!!! I bet your base is turned way up too (one of the odds and ends you are going to add is a 500 watt woofer in the trunk huh!). LOL
  24. For a minute there I thought you all were talking about the 09 ES350. I have an 08 ES350 UL and appleton has it accurate. Hey SW03ES and AZ08LexusES, I must be the only one that misses the hooks!!! But, yes, you can use the hand grips....but I still miss my hooks! :cries: (ha ha!)
  25. Congrats nelsjay!!!
