  1. I'm very cheap...gone 107.5K on the original belt..gonna go to 120K as the toyota dealer recommended. Although, I'll go to the lexus dealer for the actual replacement.
  2. I think he's trying to make money off of you..but...if it "does break" then it will cause that amount of damage since u have an interference egine--meaning once the timing belt breaks, all hell breaks loose. I wouldn't change it until 90K miles. I doubt the air truly will kill it.
  3. I run it in my SC400..no knock. That "knock" problem I was talking about b4 has gone away..oddly.
  4. I never knew 95 SC400 has an AC filter. My TL does and my Maxima does..but where is it in my SC? any specific DIY?
  5. How do I treat this musty smell that comes out of the AC vents?
  6. My SC's noise is sometimes louder than it usually is and sometimes it's quiet...the dealership said just get a wind deflector, although the cars aren't designed for it.
  7. It makes the noise when I accelerate, even flooring it. It doesn't have a temperature variant. I'll use 91 the next time and see.
  8. it's most noticeable at startup and then decreases in loudness as the engine warms up.
  9. a good point i need to make first...this sound is intermittent.
  10. hi I have a 95SC400 with 107K miles..the car, when I accelerate from a stop in the 0-40 mph range, the engine or something makes a kinda clicking sound...it might be knock, since i do pump 87 gas into it...any suggestions? It doesn't sound like knock though...
  11. Does a 95 SC4 have In cabin microfilters?
  12. What is the difference--Other than the design shape of a V versus all 6 cylinders in a line?
  13. Hi, I have a 1995 SC400 with a dying CD changer. What should I do about it? I'm willing to buy any CD changer that will directly connect to my OEM Head Unit and doesn't cost too much. I paid 350 for an Alpine CD changer for my Acura TL and it directly connected. Hopefully, there's something cheaper for our SC.
  14. How long does it take for the dealership to get you guys a loaner car when you're in for service? Do you have to make an appointment with like a weeks notice to get one? The Acura dealers I know say you must make an appointment about 1 week in advance to get a loaner car...Hopefully Lexus dealers manage to hand one over immediately upon request...
  15. Maybe after the 93-93 model year, they stopped the auto-locking function, as people can easily lock their keys in the car or something. My 95 doesn't autolock unless I unlock the doors and don't open the door.
  16. I honestly avoid using the windows just because I don't like the air coming in because of the noise. If I were you, I would save money, not replace the window motor/regulator and use the sunroof if you insist on not using the A/C year round.
  17. Hi, What are the benefits of using a 92-96 ES300 CD Changer in place of the 1st generation SC300/400 CD Changers? I've read that those are interchangeable and may potentially consider it in the future. I understand the ES have a 6 CD magazine while the SC has 12, which is not an issue fo rme.
  18. Hi, Just out of curiosity.... If any of you were me, would you rather I sell my 2001 Acura TL with 59K miles or my 1995 Lexus SC400 with 102K miles? The tough choice in my opinion is the fact that the TL suffers from tranmission problems and that can be costly, while the Lexus doesn't seem to have any major reliability issues. Any input? *Knock on Wood*
  19. HI When I heat my car in auto mode and the ventilation/mode is set to feet, there is cool air coming out from the passenger side front air vent (face). Is that the way it's supposed to be?
  20. My CD Changer in my 95 SC400 is near death...Do you have any recommendations as to direct plug and play replacement of the CD changers? I like my HU so I want to keep it and just buy a new changer. I have a TL which was directly plug and play with an Alpine....so hopefully, the SC has the same. I don't want to shell out 1200 for a new CD changer from the stealership.
  21. Do any of you have any recommendations for Portable GPS Systems for use? I need one that has the map of the entire US in detail for major metropolitan areas.
  22. Are they really plug/play? I could buy a CD changer for an ES300 and stick it into my 95 SC400 w/o a problem? I'd definitely do that
  23. Hi, I have a 95 SC400 also with BF Goodrich BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A KDWS 225/55R16 for 111 per tire from Costco.com...these are by far the quietest tires for the money I would say. They also perform very well and last long. I have put 20K miles on them and have used about 30-40% tread. From that, I would expect to put about 35-40K miles on them, which what I would expect from a sports car with sports tires. You also get the added benefit of Costco quality and services, such as lifetime balancing, rotation, new valve stem, road hazard warranty, etc.
  24. The Nissan 350Z, is faster by far than the SC400s. The SC400 in the mid 90s had 250hp, and the late model SC400s (97-00) had 300 hp. Although the later models had 300 hp, they are significantly heavier than the Z. Now in terms of better features, like luxury, handling, features, etc, the SC400 exceeds in luxury and features. The SC had heated seats and very nice sound systems. The Z comes with very basic features. The handling on the Z is; however, is much better than the SC.
