My rotors we easily replaced by me and a friend and the new drilled one went on fine too.

I had the dealer do my 93 sc400 w/ 141k miles ,full flush for $225.00 a few months ago and i haven't had any issues so far.

good question. I have mine in the front passanger window. I have read a post a few months ago about some one who secured it to the pasanger sun visor and could flip it down when a LEO came along or up and out of the way the rest of the time.

Not sure but a free try is to disconnect your battery from the car for a minute or two. This will wipe the processor back to ffactory and if you had bad gas recently, the computer will !Removed! the engine to keep it from getting damaged. I think you loose about 20-40 horse when the cpu retards the engine from this bad gas detection function. It won't hurt but you will have to reset your clock and raio stations.

I have seen several on ebay! good luck. I think 1 of the sellers said to ask and they would tell you how to program the new key with the old one.

My outside mirrors don't work but the fuses are fine and the little switch seems to read voltage changes so i think its ok. I have read on another thread that a common problem is the mirror computer located somewhere in the dash. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/show....t/ST/f/4/t/2841 Does anyone know the part # and or where it is located in the car? I am going to talk to the dealer but they are usually vauge on part #'s and prices are crazy. Any help would be good. Thanks in advance.

Anybody have any more ideas? I have the same problem and would like to fix it. How about part #'s of the "control box" mentioned by bubbles?

Yeah part # looks valid. If you are going to try it yourself, call these guys for price on the part. http://www.Toysport.com They have good prices on oem toyota / lexus parts. 323-755-2755 They quoted me a lower price on a tranny part than the dealer.

Be aware of the other little things that wear out with age and miles. drive it on a road with some dips and bumps (not smooth). Listen for creaks and how it handles. If its noisy or jumps a little, it may need bushings and or shock mount cushions. Bear in mind that nothing on a Lexus is cheap to replace or repair. Also, the insurance is going to likely be higher than a same age non lexus. As an example, i had a 2 year old saturn and the lexus insurance is MORE. The lexus is a 93 sc400. They are good cars but they still are getting older like every thing else, not just the motor. Good luck ;)

Will check w/ pep boys and napa. The dealer wants $44 for the front set. I can buy the whole set of front pads and clips aftermarket for that price.

Thanks for the insight. I never heard of it either. I called the dealer today to find out how much that "part" was and the guy in parts said he didn't know what that part was but he would talk to the guys in the shop to see what they were talking about. I had the car in, so they could sump out the tranny fluid and replace the filter. So i don't know how to check the work they did vs didn't do. No, my car doesn't seem to jerk or act funny to me as far as tranny work/ mounting issues. I do need the bushings replaced on the front upper and lower but that will happen later. I think you may be right about them meaning the tranny mount, not a coupler of any sort.

My dealer mentioned the transmision coupler is going out in my car. A 93 sc400. I didn't get a chance to speak directly to the mechanic but it was said i should get it fixed. My question is this: What is it and how hard would it be to do myself, or would i be better off letting the dealer do it? They did say it joined the tranny to the motor but not what it looks like or specifically is.

I haven't gotten a response from the dealer, so i will call them tomorrow and see if i can get a price and avail on them. Yeah, i think i need them too. The last ones on the old pads just wouldn't fit on the new metalic maxxis pads. I took the car to the dealer a week later for unrelated service and thats when they noticed the pads and stated "ready to fall off". while i feel this isn't quite true, i did see the play they mentioned and realized my error. Thanks again guys.

Let me try to explain this. I don't need the V spring clip, that pushes the pads off the rotor. I need the 2 clips (1 on each end of the pad) that sorta "locks" the pad into the caliper. 2 pads on each caliper and each pad uses 2 clips, so i would need 4 clips for each caliper. With out these clips, the after market maxxis pads can be moved by finder, due to the gap caused by not having the slip holding the pad in the caliper. It looks like these clips come with new/replacement pads or from a dealer but they didn't come with the maxxis pads. Thanks for answering anyway.

The two support clips. My new pads didn't have them and the one that were on the old pads wouldn't fit, so i absent mindedly tossed them out before i should have. Oops

I have a 93 sc400. The oem pads use a clip to hold the pads securely in place on the calipers. Well mine are missing on the fronts. Does any one have recomendations on where i could get just the clips, not whole new pads? I tried the local autoparts stores and they can only do new pads but my pads are new, so i don't want to go that route. I may also try the dealer but i figure they will want more money than an alternate source would.

Problem solved. I found that the over flow tube that attaches under the radiator cap was dripping excess coolant into the path of the air from the fan, so it would put just enough moister on that corner of the belt / pulley area to cause a squeel when the engine was up to running temp. I fixed that by puting a hose extension on the end and now the excess will go to the ground. I believe i may have just slightly over filled the radiator resevoir and now its expelling the overflow a few drops @ a time. Thanks for the help guys.
