  1. ArmorAll won't hurt the dashboard...which is made of vinyl by the way, not leather. Saying that I feel its way too shiny and greasy. I like a product called Ultima Interior Sealant, google search it ;)
  2. Yeah now that I think about it I would buy the exaltos if I couldnt get the Primacy's
  3. I've heard of a couple Inverter failures on the Prius board. It is very rare.
  4. Yeah those are on the old 00-03 Prius, the new one doesn't have a logo like that. Dealers are putting those on new RXh's?
  5. I seriously doubt it...it'd be a 4 figure peice of technology... The dealer will set any settings you want the first time for free...
  6. Does it happen every time, and is there any light that comes on the dash? Sounds like the VSC...
  7. Yep, once I re read it I noticed that too, due to "market conditions". The materials used to make tires have become a lot more expensive (petroleum based). Since they make the S8's and have to in that size since its common and they're original equipmenton the Camry and Accord I'm sure you're right I agree, I'm not going to buy the S8's. Wouldn't make sense to pay more for them and have lesser treadwear. I like my Bridgestone Turanza LS-Vs but the LS tire line has been discontinued and replaced with the Turanza Serenity tire which quess what...they don't make in my size! I'm going to go ahead and order the Primacy's now. I've had experience several sets of Dunlop tires on my Dad's LSes, the Sp Sport 4000 is a nice quiet tire but very poor treadwear, the SP Sport 5000 is a little less quiet but with only a little better treadwear. Toyo makes a new grand touring tire called the Versado, but I was so displeased with how my Toyo Proxes TPT's aged I'm dubious. There's not a whole lot else to buy for this car. I would probably order a set of old Michelin MXV4+ which you can still get on TireRack before I bought the S8s. Or I might try the Michelin Exaltos.
  8. Great! I'm glad it was recovered. Are you sure the RX doesn't have an alarm? My ES has an alarm, as did/do both of my dad's LS's, as does our Prius...
  9. If you're somewhere that you get a lot of snow, then absolutely you need a good set of winter tires, on any vehicle. With a set of winter tires the RX would be a beast in the snow. Even a RWD LS is excellent in the snow with winter tires.
  10. It takes a few hundred miles for the brake pad and the rotor surface to "set in" after they're changed. Give it some time, if it doesn't go away after you've put 750 miles or so on it you should take it back to whomever did the brake service.
  11. Your car is 11 years old. The knocking noise is probably a worn bushing, the life of which depends a lot on the types of roads you drive on. The starter would probably explain the intermittent no-start. As for the rotors and pads, in 11 years and 125k miles I expect that you would have gone through several sets of pads and a couple rotors. You also mention in other posts you've had blue headlights, have heavy 19" wheels which cause a lot more wear on suspension components than stock and that you live in NY. You also mentioned that a mechanic told you that you had a blown head gasket from oil on the spark plugs that you never bothered to repair. My guess is you've been pretty hard on your vehicle over the years, had you treated it and maintained it properly you would probably be more satisfied, as the rest of us that have are. Do us all a favor too, and please stop posting in all caps. The Lexus is a machine like anything else, its a high quality reliable machine but it still has to be maintained and wear parts still have to be replaced. Most people who are dissapointed expect too much.
  12. Why do you think your post count has anything to do with the member's response you quoted? He presented a very respectful and coherant response to your post... Anyways no, the RX is not an SUV. Anybody who thinks it is didn't research it enough before they bought it. Its on the Camry platform. Its a crossover, not a true SUV like the GX or LX. However, somehow I can drive a car in the snow without wrecking it so I could certainly drive an RX. People who can't handle one don't know how to drive in the snow, period. 4WD helps you get started from a stop, and the RX has an AWD system that will do that. For turning, stopping, an SUV is going to be no better than an RX. The RX is hardly unique in that field either, every carmaker has crossovers and more and more people are moving, happily, from SUVs to them. The RX, Acura MDX, Infiniti FX, Ford Edge, Lincoln MKS, Cadillac SRX, Mercedes R class, BMW X3 and X5. All of them essentially cars.
  13. You have to add a quart of oil every 3k miles in a brand new car? Thats ridiculous.... Lexus makes an iPod kit...
  14. You can configure some things yourself, but not most. Its purely that they haven't gotten around to creating a user interface, the C-BEST settings came out in 98 and it was a big deal that you could even make those changes, they've just never upgraded the system. They will.
  15. None have been released yet unfortunately, without camo. The RX is by far their best selling model, followed by the ES.
  16. Lets not bring race into the equation, okay?
  17. I havent heard a lot of stories about them failing, but it does happen. I'd look for one in a wrecking yard...
  18. What he's seeing at night is not the DRL's, its the small wedge bulb in the housing of the high beam reflector.
  19. Thats the whole point of what he's asking. Obviously he's interested in the perfomance of the V8 he's just wondering what kind of hit he's going to take in the fuel economy department. You can keep quoting your post all you want, I just don't understand the point of what you're saying.
  20. www.sewellpartsonline.com www.ltunedparts.com www.lexuspartsonline.com
  21. Nope, no XM NavTraffic on the ES. Only the LS and LX.
  22. I've just started using a shop called LXT Automotive in Rockville, owned by a former Lexus master tech. Much more reasonable than the dealer, all OEM parts. www.lxtautomotive.com, ask for Nelson tell him Steve Withrow sent you. His shop is small and his website isn't much, but he does good work. Down there I've heard good things about a place called American Auto Tech, http://americanautotech.com/ Pohanka is an awful dealer...stay away from them.
  23. But why do you find it ironic? It depends on the driver. They're either like you say, or wont get out of their own way lol
  24. Whats the emblem from the Prius? I have a Prius and we don't have any italicized lettering...
  25. Well, I wouldn't drive on them for 6 months. You'll accelerate brake wear, and you're not getting optimal brake function. You don't have to also replace the brake pads, but they're probably shot too. No, dealer doesn't have to do it anybody can but I would purchase genuine Lexus parts to ensure you're not going to have a lot of squealing. You can either have the rotors machined or replaced, if you have them machined it will come back more quickly. The warpage is caused by heat, and after the rotors are machined they're thinner and the heat will warp them faster. The Lexus dealer would charge you $350 probably to do a front brake job, it'd be cheaper at Toyota or an independent shop. Where in VA are you? Northern VA?
