DTC P1349 is "VVT (Variable Valve Timing) System Malfunction (Bank 1)". VVT system controls the intake valve timing to proper timing in response to driving condition. ECM controls OCV (Oil Control Valve) to make the intake valve timing properly, and, oil pressure controlled with OCV is supplied to the VVT controller, and then, VVT controller changes relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft. There is little you yourself can do to test or repair this system so a Lexus Dealer is your best bet to get it repaired.

Not knowing what your need to sell one of your vehicles is makes it hard to advise, I assume that it is financial. If your Yukon was a corvette then we would know that the decision would be WIFE based and since you have a child you can no longer have any toys..LOL Based on Autotrader listings your 2004 Yukon is worth around 25K to 30K (assuming fully loaded) (range is 17K to 30K) I would say in 2 to 3 years it will be worth around 15K.. Your Lexus is worth 13 - 15K now and I would presume that it will be well worth over 10K in 2 - 3 Years. There will be a day when the Lexus will be worth more that your GMC If your Yukon is paid off.. I would sell it now and take the money and buy a good used forerunner (with money left over) and still have two good safe vehicles. I have a friend you owes more than his Yukon is worth right now and he can't sell it without taking a huge hit... That is really a hard decision to make as your decision should not be based financially but what is best for the safety and comfort of your child. Unfortunately with the economy the way that it is many of our decisions have to include that financial factor. If you have to get rid of the GMC, No one could ever fault you for traveling with your Child in a lexus LS. Good Luck in whatever decision you make

Hi, I am sure that he told you that It would be BETTER but that does not mean it is the law. They like to see you when they walk up to your car. My advice is, if you do get pulled over, ROLL ALL YOUR windows down so the can see if there are multiple occupants. Put yourself in thier shoes. They pull you over and you only roll down the drivers window and they can't see if someone is in the back seat with a gun.. Makes them nervous. they will appreciate that you made thier job easier..If you do this, they will be less likely to hassle you.. I am like you, relatively new to the Lexus owners experience and I said the same thing when I joined this forum.. WHAT A RIDE... I did not plan to buy this lexus and was in the process of purchasing a corvette or dodge viper.. I am so glad a purchased this car and still get excited to drive it.. Like that commericial says.. "when you turn your car on does it return the favor" Why Yes it does.... This forum is full of Lexus owners (Older vehicles and new) with very little complaints of not being able to fix things for the DIY.. You got a great car and a great deal.. I was just reading someone paid $4500 for about the same thing.. and someone else on this forum was looking to buy what you just got for 4K.. So if you do sell I am sure you won't lose any money or have trouble finding a buyer... Welcome..

My total tint job in Muskegon for all four windows and the rear was $180.. He told me that if I had to remove it and add the 4 inch top strip for the front driver and passenger side.. (Back seat driver, passenger and rear are legal) he would charge me $75.. Not that big of a deal.. Well worth it... Not only does it look hot.. Let me tell you about some of the real plus's Before tint, certain parts of the day my NAV system was unreadable due to the glare from the sun.. Now NAV and DVD movies can be seen any time of day without any glare. Before tint, when weather was hot the leather seats were sometimes to hot to sit in with shorts, (sure they cooled down quickly with the seat cooler) but with the Tint the whole inside of the car remained cooler.. I noticed that the dash and seats once I treat them with cleaner and conditioner stay that way much longer.. No more road rage !!!! When I flip people off, they can't see me... Just kidding..LOL UREXINMYLEX -- Sweet looking ride !!! P.S. Weather has been bad here and I have not driven the Lexus in 5 days.. Going through withdrawl..!!! I know it handles well in this weather I just worry about the other people driving lesser vehicles hitting me...

sounds like an awesome and fun project.. Send Before and after shots of all your mods. I have a hard time imagining where I would even put 12 Monitors in my lexus. I know alot of the show cars are now putting them all over so you can see video with the doors and trunks open while they are being on display.. If you want to be different and unique, put a projection unit it your trunk and show movies on walls or on a projection screen..That would be cool in the summer time to back up to your friends garage open the trunk and watch Transformers on 10 ft x 10 ft screen with a bumping system.. Not sure how well the neighbors would like that..

The FIX IT tickets are no points and no fines if you get it fixed within 10 days.. I get alot of compliments on my car and right now it is worth it to me.. Ask me when I get pulled over for having my windows tinted and I had a couple of drinks. By the way, if I am going out and there is a remote possibility that I am having a drink, the LEXUS stays in the garage and I drive the Durango.. Alcohol and that V8 just don't mix well..

Forgot to mention that you can get your eye doctor to right a prescription that would allow you to have window tint. You will still get pulled over but if you have a prescription to keep it, you will not have to fix it..

Hello all Every State is different.. Here in Michigan you can only have tint on the drivers and passenger windows no more than 4 inches from the top of the window. I have limo tint all the way around and have yet to be pulled over. Many of my friends have been pulled over and issued a FIX IT ticket. Indiana and Arizona do not have any laws regarding window tint that I know of.. Once I get pulled over, I will remove the tint below 4 inches. I spend a lot of time looking for cops and rolling my windows down if i see them. I also spend a lot of time rolling my windows down at night so I can see if anyone is coming. You can't always rely on people driving with thier lights on..

Yes, as long as it has RCA video out.. I have seen some posts with people using Video IPODS... I chose this DVD player because it has front VIDEO and AUDIO inputs so I could connect an IPOD and run it through my DVD input..

VMF is right, it is most likely tire alignment.. The tires may be worn to your current alignment and once you rotated them it is now more obvious to you as these tires are resisting to the way have have been worn to.. Even though you get an alignment you may still experience some pull until the tires wear some more.. This is one reason they recommend to reduce Irregular wear you rotate front left to rear right and right front to left rear.. They say you should do this every 5000 miles for maximum tire wear, but I don't... I agree with VMF, you do not need a new tire at this time unless there is clearly heavy inside or outside wear on your tire..

Word of caution...The only way I have been able to get to the DVD function is by voice command.. None of the options that I have tried using the function buttons have opened the DVD operation screen. It is not a problem for me and I kind of like it that way but if you do not have voice command functioning you may have a problem getting it to work.. If anyone is successful in getting it to work without the voice command i would like to try thier procedure..

I have always thought the auto retracting mirrors on my car were kind of a silly feature, but I can surely appreciate it now... Short story about mirrors, Went to my wifes mother and fathers house and it was the first time they saw the Lexus. Her father saw the mirror turned in and must have thought someone bumped it so he corrected it. When I started the car and went to look on the passenger mirror it was totally rotated to the right side of the car.. so I had to get out and correct it. He had this look of astonishment regarding these mirrors moving by themselves when you start the car and was a little embarassed by what he had done.. He thought he was helping us out.. I guess I should be glad he did not break it!! 90 - 94 ls mirrors are going for around $50 on Ebay...

Hello all I purchased the ultimate lockpick 1 and installed a DVD\MP3 Player in my glove box. I am really satisfied with the video and sound quality of the DVD. Ultimate lockpick worked as it said it would. Total installation cost was $200 in Labor.. $200 for lock pick and $100 for DVD player.. There are some audio problems that we had to work out and I am not so sure that it is not the DVD player that is causing them and I plan to do some testing over the Holidays. I have noticed that when the DVD RCA audio cables are plugged into the Lexus sound system there is a drop in volume for all other inputs, SAT, CD, FM, etc. If the DVD player power is turned off then all audio is cancelled and will not come back on unless the power to the DVD player is turned on. Again I thing this is a problem with the DVD player as i have not seen anyone else with this issue. My resolve right now is to keep the DVD power on and or unplug the RCA output cables from the DVD player until I get this issue resolved.. Here are some pix.. The cable picture is what you get from coastal for $200.. The other two are the custom installation of the DVD player installed on the removable shelf in the glove box..DVD player has a remote eye and is controlled via remote so the glove box can remained closed for operation.

If you are talking about the upper left lower left button hack, that one never did release the Phone book option while the car is in motion. It allowed you to change Destinations while the car was moving.. The ultimate lockpick by coastaltech states on ther website that if you upgrade to 6.1 that thier unlock will not work..So I imagine if they have not figured it out yet, no one has.. MESSAGE FROM COASTAL TECH * NOTE: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED OR YOU UPGRADE TO NAVIGATION MAP DISK 6.1, THE LOCKPICK1 WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UNLOCK THE ADDRESS INPUT FEATURE OF YOUR NAVIGATION SYSTEM. THE VIDEO, AUDIO, BLUETOOTH AND "I AGREE FUNCTIONS" WILL STILL BE OPERATIONAL* I am having my ultimate lockpick and dvd player installed today.. ! Can't wait to see how it turns out...

Sorry, was not trying to be rude....I meant it in a fun way that I was shocked to hear that a New and Young driver was actually worried about gas mileage. After re-reading my post I can see how it could have been percieved that way... Again I appologize to 17Lexusowner and to you all... Are previous maintenance records available? When was its last tuned up (plugs & oil change)? A 3-4 MPG is a considerable drop in mileage.

Since when is a 17 year old worried about gas mileage!!! What the f..... You should probably ask your friends for some gas money while you are showing off your LEXUS before you ask us how you can get more MPG from your LS.... Here are some tips... because this is what I did when I was 17. (I am 46 now). Always accellerate slow from stop lights. Keep you tire pressure at recommended values and obey all speed limits.... LOL What the F......?????

I try to be a very courteous driver and I do care about others and I am regularly flashed by other drivers as if I have my brights on. I know that I get frustrated with oncoming drivers who do not dim thier bright lights. My lights are stock for the 2005 LS 430 and I am thinking I might need to have them adjusted just to be courteous to other drivers. However I do like being able to see this clearly at night.

To override NAV on LS 430 go to your menu then volume.. press the upper left corner then lower left corner then upper left corner then lower left corner.. (You will see no buttons there, they are hidden.) A service menu will appear... Press and hold the override button for 3 seconds or until you here a beep. Press Back and go to your destination menu. You can now change POI or whatever while on the move. You can do this procedure while on the move as well. However, you still cannot use the Bluetooth phone book or Dial while driving.. I have just ordered the Ultimate LOCKPICK1 from CoastalTech which overrides everything on the LS430 except for NAV map disk ver 6.1.. Sorry, but it looks like they still have no support for the LS460. But it will be worth every penny of the $200 dollar it costs. here is a video on how to do this Here is also a Hack for the LS460 but it is for other things.

It is funny that AKHAWAJA has not replied to any comments made. We don't know if he bought the car new or used. If he paid 25K for it, he should have already traded the damn thing....Looks like the going rate for a used one is $30K without NAV. If he paid 30K for his car and trading it even up for the LS430 I would say that would be a good trade. Having never driven and ES350 an can't differentiate about driving experience but by reading reviews, Specs and looking at Interior photos I can honestly tell you that if someone were to walk up to me and say "I will give you this brand new 2007 ES 350 for your LS430" my response would be "HELL NO"... I have been too spoiled by the power, bells and whistles & luxury to drive anything less. AKHAWAJA made a choice to purchase this ES350 New or Used for a reason. He certainly could have purchased a 2005 LS430 for around the same price (assuming he did some research before purchasing his ES) and should have test driven both before making his choice.

SOLVED ! Once the Lexus prompts you to press send on your Blackberry you need to go the the bluetooth settings on the phone and from the menu options select TRANSFER ADDRESS BOOK. It took me twice but it went through the second time... I now have all my phone numbers in my phone book and once my Ultimate Lockpick gets here on Wednesday I will be able to use it while I am driving. Getting closer to perfection everyday!
