The o6 gs is a great looking car with all the right features a sport luxury car should have and need to attract present and new gs owners to buy.
My concern is how lexus/toyota is marketing this new car. In Canada toyota is advertising the new toyota avalon on tv. Essentially the new body of the avalon is the same body of the gs. I was considering a purchase of a new gs, but I would prefer the gs to be more different. The profile of the two cars are essentially the same. If I was to pay 70 to 80,000 dollars cdn for the new car, I would be totally disappointed if I was mistaken by a comment like " Nice toyota", "nice Avalon".
To most people that are not die hard lexus fans, will get the two cars mixed up. Toyota should have released and marketed the gs first to elevated the gs above the avalon as flagship icon cars. Now when you buy a gs, it can be construed as a avalon copy not the other way around.
I was looking forward to seeing the car and purchasing one, but now I have decided not to buy one at this time. I feel that my second generation body style is still more exclusive. My decision to purchase my gs was largely made on the fact that the car was unique and exclusive. Now the new car is a copy of a toyota avalon.
I am disappointed by the actions and decisions of lexus to allow the gs brand to loose its percieved exclusiveness...
I hope someone from Lexus or Toyota is reading this comment and can comment and prove me wrong.
