I just bought a 97 SC400 with 55k miles for 18k. very happy with it :)

My last car was a 1993 Sc300, had it for a year before i decided to get a NEWER one. Just got a 1997 Sc400. Car before that 1994 Isuzu Amigo! Loved my little truck, that i had to downshift going up hills. After all, it WAS my first vehicle.

I had all of the above problems after getting my Sc300 last winter. Alot of money for a college student. I replaced the water pump, timing belt, ac compressor, and the last problem before i decided to buy a new car was the Starter. It would work sometimes, then sometimes not. Then i took it to a battery shop, got a new batt. They said the starter was fine, and i drove for a month and the new battery was drained, went back got a new one, a week later battery died again. Took to the lexus dealer and i had to get a new engine wiring harness. that was the cause of my starter malfunction and the battery dying. Also i has to get a pulley that was eating away at my timing belt replaced, and a new timing belt. Broke and saddened, i got a used sc400 and called it a day. Workin on "pimping" it out now. Andy, i'm all for art and creativity, but boy does that fin look funny on that car. Its too long to begin with. the car looks good tho, is that yours? Hot! Just get a shorter spoiler and it'll look fine. that high one makes it look like u can pick up the car by the spoiler and drop it on a matchbox car track or something.

Hey everyone, just wanted to tell you guys I just purchased a 1997 sc400, black like my old sc300. My 300 has hit 205k miles and i refuse to keep fixing parts on it. Its been a rough year of fixing, i'll tell ya that. So i'm happy to be the new owner of a sc400. took a bit of restraint not to reach for the clutch, miss my stick a little, but i'm over it now lol. Oh, specs 1993, 204,000 miles. needs new cat-converter. A few scratches here and there. Runs good. needs new trunk strut. Selling with or w/o rims. thanks eb

Hey everyone. Selling my 1993 Sc300 :cries: . I've been through alot of repairs for the past year. (check all the post i've had) Oh and alot of the work i've done i haven't asked advice on. lol. So its time. Found a 1997 Sc400 loaded, gold package, ect. Emaculate, One owner. You can see my car on my avatar. <-------------- I have other pics if anyone has any questions about it. I got my A/C compressor from Ebay for 250. Labor plus other little parts i needed. I think it came to 4-500. I read on another post that the ground wire was corroded and needed to be changed. Wondering if this would help also. Thanks.

I just got word it COULD be the alternator. Pep boys did a test on it and they still aren't sure. Recommended me take it to the dealer. Called the dealer the want 750 for the alt and labor, and 90 to check the alt. Can't afford that, so going to get an alt off the net for 160-250 and get someone to put one on for me. Thanks for the info tho. gonna try that trick when i get my car back.

The last work I got done to my Sc300 was a new AC compressor. that was maybe a month ago. After that i had to replace my Battery, the car wasn't starting properly. They tested my alternator, said that was fine along with my starter. So, a month later, last week, my car suddenly just dies. all power is gone. I take it back to the shop i got my battery at, NTB, and they gave me a new one. I get home last night and notice my lights very dim. turn the car off, then crank it up again, and i get nothing. SO, seems i killed a battery in a matter of days. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? or has anyone had any electrical problems like this in the past? I am returning it to the shop i had my compressor put on at, but it'll be sitting all day tomorrow, Sunday, so wondering if there is another alternative. Also, any trustworthy mechanics in the Maryland/baltimore area. Bad experience with my last mechanic. Trying hard to avoid the dealer.. but might end up there this time. thanks Eb

I was going to purchase a HKS muffler, but there are so many, don't know which is the Quietest, i see most of them come with silencers. are they very effective????? I was going to purchase the borla until i was told it was too restrictive for the turboed engine. There's a shop here in maryland that does excellent piping for my mufflers, just need the right mufflers for my Sc300. later Eb

I was wondering if anyone knew which turbo exhaust gave the maximum ammount of flow with the least ammount of sound. I was going to go with the Borla, but i was told it was too restrictive for a turboed engine. Oh yea, turboing my engine by the fall. I've heard alot of exhaust make alot of noise, so i was wondering if anyone knew of a softer sounding one, that is only loud at high throddle, thanls EB

SAME PROBELM!! lol My tac light blinks, and my Fuel Gage light USED to blink, its now dark. It comes back every once in a while, but i'm just gonna get a new dash kit from Lextech.org, when i get the change. Oh, and my A/C needs a new compressor i think, workin on that first. Its HOT in Maryland already... need the A/C Eb

My A/C light is blinking. When i turn it on, I hear it starting up even blowing out cold hair for about 5 seconds, then it dies. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if i need a new compressor or could it be something easier to fix, I also had it converted to RF with the kit, new freon and everything, still won't stay on,,, Thanks Eb

In the same boat, same car and year, my AC stopped working. Been waiting till it got hot to get it fixed. Let me know what the problem is with yours if u go to get it fixed. thanks Eb

I'm feeling the front of the car tho. the hood and the front body kit is nice.. be better on my car tho., the rest.. ehhhh ouch. The Lexus simbol in the rag top is original tho.

Ok, so i'm driving to work yesterday morning, i turn a corner and begin to accellorate, as i'm doing that i take a glance in my mirror and there's a WALL of smoke behind me. bad sign. Long story short, i need a new head. Since i've spent lots and lots of money already restoring my 93 sc300, i figured its just one more thing and i want to get a good engine that i can modify later, add a turbo to. So any suggestions on where to look in the Maryland area would be well apreciated. Thanks guys Eb.

Thanks Tom, that worked. :) There was a pennie down in there and it shorted the fuse,, twice. Simple fix tho.. thanks again Eb

My heat/AC is no longer working in my 93 SC300. Could it be a fuse? If so does anyone know which one to replace? I have no manual for the car, so i'm kind of lost in that department. The clock light is also very dim. Nothing else is dim but the clock light. And all the other lights work, just nothing is showing in the temperature panel, and none of the climate control buttons are working. Any help would be appreciated, since the shop doesn't open till monday morning. Thanks Eb

thanks guys. And no way, i am not mechanically inclined when it comes to cars. Can't grasp it. I got a shop to do it all for me. And i'm having issued with the waterpump. Its making alot of noise, causing rumbling. they said its because it may have been on the shelf for a long time Or it could just be bad, which means mo money for labor! rrrrr. love my car, but jeez, seems to never end... later Eb

Thanks, i just got a new radiator, water pump and timing belt put on my car for about 400 bucks. (not including parts, cept the timing belt)... Its on its way guys. 190,000 miles.... wonder what breaks down next.

Hi, i have an SC300 and was wondering if it has a Timing Belt, or a Chain. I have almost 190,000 miles on it and I am getting a new radiator and water pump installed this week. I probably need a timing belt as well, but I need to know if it's belt or chain. Thanks Eb
