  1. Great thanks so much ....ill definately check that out. Why i figured that it wasnt a clog was because normally when you press the button you hear a noise....
  2. Hey whats going on....just wanted to know if anyone knows where i can get the pump for the windshield washer. Mine doesnt work anymore when i press the button for the fluid....also how do i get to it and remove it...maybe its clogged or there is a lose connection...thanks for the help...
  3. Ok so here's the update... Just came back from lexus and they replaced the battery and this other little nut thing that holds in the negative terminal.....So everything seems fine for now! If anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening please let me know. Thanks.
  4. Hey guys whats up.... Here's the deal. Im driving and then the ABS and TRAC lights pop up on the dashboard. The radio is the first to shut off or make a loud distortion noise. So i shut that off. Then the dashboard begins to flash if I use the indicator. I turn off all lights/radio/air ...anything that used the battery power. Now the steering begins to be tough to turn. The second i turn the car off at this stage the car shuts down and has to be boosted in order to start. The battery was replaced 10 months ago as well as the alternator(rebuilt). I took the car to have the battery and alternator tested at two different garages before taking it to Lexus. Both garages said absolutely nothing is wrong with either of them. With the car at lexus the first time, they tested it and OBVIOUSLY they found nothing. Cause you know how probs just disspear at the dealership! They decided anyways to replace the Negative wiring to the battery which they thought was the prob. APPRENTLY NOT!...CDN 260$ later i left.(23$ for the wire the rest labour) That evening i took the car home and after doing all my errands and onthe way home all the lights start popping up again and before you know it the car shut off. Had it towed for the 3rd time back to lexus where they said "ok maybe its the battery." They were almost sure that it was that since on start up this car needs 750 amps or something like that. So this weekend one of their guys took the car home to test it with the battery that I have in the car. Should it shut down they would replace my bat with the bat from Lexus. Im going today to get my car and see what they say. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why this is happening. Lexus checked out everything and they said the car is fine they cant find anything. There has to be something. Thanks for you help.
  5. Hey everyone.. I need a little knowledge help before i take my car in to be checked out. I have an SC400 92. Lately (past month) i have noticed that while driving and comming to a stop, as I apply pressure to my brakes a cranking/clicking noise comes into effect. Im thinking that its becuase the brakes may be worn down but you never know it could be something else. The front brake pads were replaced about a year and a half ago. Thanks for any help!
  6. Hey I have the same car year and everything. If you read the book youll notice that once you switch off your car and close the door,(whether you locked the car manually or its left unlocked) it will take 30 seconds and the doors will lock itself automatically. Normally i dont lock my doors and when i come back its locked because of the automated feature. To get the lights to flash or honk noise you will have to have some new system installed I was told by a lexus dealer. But im sure there is a way to connect the wires for the unlock/lock through the light wires. If you ever find out please let me know. Mr.SC
  7. Thanks for the info....i did think about fixing it myself but i think that i would mess it up even more !!! and i dont need that happening at this stage...lol...i had a feeling that suspension problems would occur. Its unfortunate the car is the age it is. I mean 13 years is old of car that may have been winter driven in its lifetime. Its just such a classic car but i guess its time is comming.....
  8. hey..thanks for reply...it was inspected by lexus actually. The guy i was buying it from told me that someone previous to me who was interested in the car had it inspected and all that was wrong with it was the water pump and the timming belt and that the brakes were at 50%. I beleived what he told me since he was a car rep for mercedes. He also told me thati could call lexus and ask them for myself...didnt call (big regret) and beleived him. Right now im inthe middle of a case with him. He knew about the problem since it had been inspected and according to Quebec law he is not allowed to sell a car with "hidden defects": however since it was inspected prior to my interest he is responsible to tell me. I got a copy of the inspection and in large letter it was written BRAKE LINE VERY RUSTED...along with the other 4 problems in small form....secondly also stated in quebec law you cannot sell a vehicle that is unfit for the road....and this situation fits that law....
  9. Hey how's it going...so im new to LOC..figured it was time i joined since i always end up with this site for my problems on the net.... So i bought my forest green SC400 92 about a year ago. I should have looked into it more but i was greedy i wanted that car right away and it was the best one that i found body wise. I tested it out and everything and it seemed in really good condition. I live in montreal and we have harsh winters and to my suprise there was no rust. Well the first month i was styling and it was such a nice ride and for my first car i couldnt have done better. This car is just a classic and if taken care of very well you wouldnt know its a 92. so a month passed and then the problems began. i was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the brakes stopped working. Took it to lexus and they said the brake line was rusted and had to be replaced....2500$ later drove it for another 2 months and then found out the water pump and timming belt need to be changed...that wasnt too bad of a repair. 800$......i yet have to replace the spark plugs. oh and not to forget...but in august it got so hot that i actually used the ac(normally i like the windows and roof open) but this day it was +38 degrees celsius(+100 fahrenheit)....to my suprise it didint work.....took it in and they told me that there was a leak in the pipe and the cost would be about 800$ to replace....that has to be done too... the most recent problems are that my starter is malfunctionning which is what i am seeking help about and my nakamichi sound system is making these weird sounds like bubbling noises.....the battery was just replaced and the car is still not starting up...i figured that it is the starter solenoid...but not sure...and with the sound system i have no clue....also one of my speakers the mid range on the door does not work anymore....does anyone know where i can get a replacement....???? i know that buying a car this old at 186000km (115000miles) that there are things that are going to have to be fixed...but please i bought a lexus knowing that its an extremely well built japanese car and reliable but these problems are making me hate my car to the point that i want to blow it up or just give it away!!! well that about sums up my problems and i feel a bit better...lol...so if anyone can offer help please let know about my starter and sound system..thanks...
