  1. I am in the process of researching someone that can recover my 93 SC400 steering wheel. But I am thinking that instead of all leather, is there someone that can do a combination leather and wood like the more recent Lexus models.
  2. :D :D :D I picked up the car yesterday and first impressions is that the suspension is slightly firmer, when hitting uneven pavement, the tires seem to stay in contact with the road surface alot more. When I came up on a large pot hole, (I knew it was there, but forgot), I gritted my teeth, and was amazed, I felt nothing. We're having some wet weather, so I'm not able to get too agressive in the twisties, but I'll update that at a later date. Took some measurements before and after and the overall stance is dropped about 1/2". Not the 1" that Eibach advertised. Maybe the suspension will settle a little. After the installation, my mechanic charge $200.00 for installation, $40.00 more than the original estimate. He stated that the fronts were a little more difficult that he had anticipated. I said, "No Problem!". Still cheaper than the $320.00 quoted by another shop. He didn't install the SS Brake Lines. I'll start another Thread on this one!
  3. The problem with the Bulbs are a different issue. The fluerescent tube was bad about burning out or shorting. But the LCD problem I am discussing here is when the Liquid in the display leaks. The only way to correct this is the replace the complete Climate Control Display Unit or find someone that can replace the LCD panel in the Climate Control Unit. I contacted Joseph, and he has experience in replacing the LCDs of the Radio, but I explained how common the problem with the Climate Control Unit is and he is researching a replacement. :D
  4. That's what I thought someone would say! I was hoping that there was somewhere I could send the unit and they could replace the LCD.
  5. Stay away from Auto Accessories Store that Lists on Ebay. They talk solely on how good there adhesive is and not how well their woodgrain matches. It is pathetic. They also charged me a 15% restocking fee. They're return authorization I had to sign forbid me from leaving any negative feedback, so this is one way I can vent my frustrations. Do NOT buy anything from Auto Accessories Store in Stanton Island, NY. :chairshot:
  6. I am currently having my shocks and springs changed as I write. I should have it back tomorrow. I measured the ride height before I dropped it off, so I should know exactly how much it dropped when I get it back. I will post my findings in the Thread I started earlier today: Tokico Shocks and Eibach Springs. Check there for my results. Good Luck!
  7. :whistles: I don't think you would have any points, at least not since manufacturers came out with electronic ignition. :whistles: The Radiator and Heating problem are probably related. If your Thermostat is staying open all the time, then the water is not heating enough to provide heat to the heater. If your Radiator warning light is staying on, then you might consider a complete Flushing. And I don't just mean draining and refilling. There is specialized equipment to drain, pressurize, fill and circulate a flushing fluid that opens all the channels of the radiator back up and then flush clean the radiator before refilling. There is also the same process for the oil in the engine. Over time and improper oil service, the oil pump and small channels can become clogged and play havok on the sensors. After a thorough flushing of my radiator, the water temp dropped 80 degrees. My brother experienced low oil pressure on a truck, had the engine flushed and no more problem. Some of the Jiffey Lube type places offer this Flushing Service. It may seem costly, but it is less costly than an engine or radiator failure. Hope this help!
  8. Looks like I'm getting a few views, but NO suggestions! Is this unique to my SC? It's more of a nusense than anything, but I would like to get it fixed!
  9. Just curious, does anyone know what the MSRP for the SC300 and SC400's were from 1992-2000? This might confirm some of the bargains that we are getting on these Sport Coupes!
  10. <_< I've given in and am having a local shop change out the Shocks and Springs. He quoted me $40.00 per corner. I am also having him change out my Brake Lines to Goodrich Stainless Steel Lines. He says he will have it done tomorrow. I'll update the changes when I get the car back. B)
  11. Kjtar, Check out my other listing: Tokico Hp Shocks & Eibach Springs I will update this thread there!
  12. Does anyone have any instructions on how to do this?
  13. Does anyone know who can repair the Blacked Out Display on the Climate Control Unit? A new one costs $395.00 from a Toyota Dealer in California. Surely this can be repaired. It is not the bulbs, on a very hot day, the display is less blacked out, but normally it is 80% black.
  14. I just purchased a '93 SC400 from my Mother-In-Law that has 180,000 miles. Conpression and leak-down test are so close to new it is amazing. The Power Antennae stopped working, I dis-assembled it and re-assembled it and it works fine. The Auto Steering Column was not working, she said for 2 years. I found the switch was turned off. The Radiator Light would come on, had it professionally flushed, temp dropped 80 degrees. Only two items to fix is drivers door hinge will not pull completely in on hinge end and Temp Control Unit is 80% blacked out. Installed Drilled and Slotted Rotors and painted the calipers Red. Cleaned the wheels with buffing compound and then waxed. Having Tokico Shocks and Eibach Springs installed as I write. Split seam in rear seat being repaired as I write. She installed new tires in July. Purchased a CD Manual off Ebay and has been very helpful in Engine Light Diagnostics. Car never leaked oil and had a major oil leak after picking up car. Mother-in-Law had tires rotated and oil changed that day. Oil leak slowed and then stopped, determined that it was over-filled with oil. Love the car, love the performance and make my Buddy sick that just purchased a 1986 Corvette Convertible.
  15. I just received a Quote from a shop to replace my shocks and it was $320.00 (Estimate). The mechanic said it would take approximately 3 hours for each front and 1-1/2 hours for each rear plus alignment. Does this sound excessive? I just talked to another mechanic that will do it for $40.00 per corner or $160.00. I guess that is where I'll take it. If there are any suggestions, I'm all ears! Thanks! :whistles:
  16. I just purchased a set of Tokico HP Shocks and Eibach Springs for my 93' SC400. Is there a DIY file somewhere that explains how to change the shocks? Or is this something that I am better off letting a Mechanic do? Thanks for any Help!
