  1. You can refer to the post below http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...960&hl=LED+bulb Instead of soldering LED to instrument panel, you can buy these 8 bulbs from Ebay and install it without soldering it. If you look carefully - these bulbs have resistor inside so you do not need to find and sold a resistor inaddition to LED, it is a simple replacement. In order to install them you need to identify polarity which will be trial and error. When I installed these bulbs there was no way I could identify negative & positive as it is not marked and there are three circuit boards in whole instrument panel - so I used trial and error method.
  2. As I stated, I saw this 3M system at TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, If only toyota throttle plate cleaner is recommended, then Toyota dealers would not use this system to clean injectors: Don't know what exactly is the truth, on google search - its one time investment of $50 to buy the kit and then you can always spend $30 to clean the system from 3M. However Toyota dealer charges $170 for one & same thing. :chairshot:
  3. Hi, Has anyone used this 3M product for cleaning Throttle body / Air intake system, I saw this product at Toyota, and am wondering if it works as it says, it would be a lot cheaper to DIY then paying Delaership $170 for same job. Product discription from 3M and image are below. Please click on link. Thanks in advance for your input. http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/3M-8962.html http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/3M-8960.html http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/en001/a...ler/output_html
  4. Ok, LED bulbs are installed, it was a trial and error as the circuit board does not identify +ve or -ve supply plus for the backlighting bulb there is only one +ve and one -ve going to all the bulbs so you cannot say which one is ground unless use a voltmeter. Anyway happy with the change as if I had bought the bulbs from lexus dealter it would be $10 x 8bulbs whereas, I bought each LED bulb for approx. $2 each for 8 bulbs and I have pure white instead of yellow background. BEFORE REPLACING LED BULBS :cries: Only if I was not cheated 3 times on Ebay, the speedometer needle would have been perfect also AFTER REPLACING BULB
  5. Hi, I am installing these LED bulbs in instrument panle, in my 93 ES300 Does any one know how to identify negative and positive current on the CIRCUIT BOARD OF INSTRUMENT PANEL as unlike regular filament bulbs, these LED bulbs will work only when placed correctly with negative and positive current. Thanks in advance
  6. I just replaced the bulb behind the button on climate control unit. The bulb you need to replace is on LCD screen. I will post the picture of bulbs behind the buttons which are available from lexus dealers. You may have to take the climate control unit out and open the LCD screen and then find the replacement bulb. I am not sure as I did not open the LCD screen while replacing the bulb - but it may require simple skill of soldering the bulb on the board.
  7. The car stereo link is very good the only difference is when I tried it and apply the pressure on side I did break the vent from top. Then I learned an easy way. Lift the clip as it by putting a screw driver and at the same time put a flat screw driver on the uppper border also as there is a plastic clip at the top. Once you have depressed the plastic clip from top and lifted the metal clip with screwdriver as shown in the carstereo link, put a screwdriver from side and the vent will come out very easily without applying any significant pressure and without breaking vent. hope it helps
  8. LEXUS ES300 / 1993 One after another the backlighting in instrument cluster. I have been buyin bulbs from Lexus Dealer for approximately $10/ Now I need to replace approximately 2 more. I have found these replacement bulb from ebay which are LED. I am attaching picture of original bual and one LED bulb which is available on Ebay and actually the seller is either in UK or Australia. I am wondering if someone has used these bulbs before. To me they look right size like 19mm length x 5mm wedge base. I am also wondering, If I put these LED bulbs - is the instrument panel going to get hot b/c of the resisor installed in the LED. If someone has experience, please update me. EBAY link to view LED bulb is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-286-Wide-Angle-LE...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. Ok I figured out a way to remove it, the trick is not only lift the clip from bottom but also put a screwdriver on the top to lower the builtin plastic hook and then remove it from side using a screwdriver. With this method there is no need to apply pressure and vent comes out very easily.
  10. Hi, I need to replace bulb in inclimate control unit. I was trying to remove the vent above the unit as described in this link http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusES300StrR.htm In the process I broke the corners of the vent and vent is still in place. Does someone has another way to remove the vent?? an easier way?? I am afraid to break the vent completely. :cries: Thanks.
  11. After going through all the discussion, JUST wondering. Why not use a regular engine flush oil at the time of oil change instead of going through all the seafoam hassel, what would be the difference by flushing engine with seafoam versus regular flushing oil. Don't they get rid of sludge and carbon build up??
  12. I mean now if I accelerate the car normally I do not feel any kicks or jerks, but if I am in a stop and go traffic like idling in rush hour I still feel like SOMEONE HAS KICKED the car while shifting from 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to first. That is why I was thinking if there is something else I can do smooth shifting during slow moving traffic. I personally like to thank member Toysrme for the Kick-down cable illustration. Before that I drove the car approximately 30000 miles hating the transmission. I took it to LeMyles transmission and they told me that they have to overhaul the transmission to fix the problem & it will cost me apporximatley $3000/-. With the help of illustrations, I adjusted kick-down cable and it is a hell lot of difference in driving. Thanks again.
  13. I adjusted the Throttle kick down cable as described in link http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=20854 and shifiting from 1st to 2nd gear improved by 80% and I have also started feeling the difference with ECT button on. 1) Now with adjustment the gear shifts between 2500 to 3000 RPM but sometimes I still feel like somone has kicked the car especially if it is shfiting at a slow speed. 2) WONDERING should I change Sticking throttle body? Would it make shifting smoother? 3) Can I change throttle body myself (do it yourself project) or is it a professional's job. 4) As mentioned in the thread, by changing the kick-down cable to factroy position am I compromising on the life of transmission??
  14. Hi, I am trying to change the key blade for my 1993 ES300. I have reached so far as opening the circuit board but the blade seems to be sealed. 20. My 93, ES300 seems to loosing power, like when I accelerate it, it does not pick up as fast as it used to. I am thinking to change the sparks plugs & Air filter. I have never opened Manifold. Can anyone provide picture a picture to like from the service manual which I can follow. I have searched the forum and I had a little difficult time to follow the written instructions. Thanks in advance for all the help. Beside changing plug and Air filter, should I change anything else. Should I use Iridium Spark plug. If yes, I will highly appreciate if someone can tell me the part number for BOSCH, NGK or ND. Iridium IX Plug; BCPR6EIX-11 is available from advance auto parts. Is it ok to use this plug?? Thanks
  21. Hi guys, I bought a Lexus 1993' ES300 in October. Since then it gives me big jerk wihle shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Previous owner said that the transmission is rebuilt. I am taking the jerks for last 6 months :cries: , now I want to get it fixed. Can someone guide me what could be the problem and where should I take my car in Baltimore, MD. I do not like dealers as they charge a lot for work that can be done at much lower cost outside. Can anyone give me an idea about the problem and a reliable shop who can fix lexus. Thanks in advance for kind advice.
  22. Ok But I do not need new transmission, I want to know if the JERK while shifting from first gear can be fixed or not.
  23. Hi, I was thinking to replace the back lighting of instrument panel with Hid (High Intensity Diode) direct bulb . I found a website which is selling std. wedge base 191. 161 & 168. Does anyone know if the bulbs with following wedge base is replaceable and if replacing regular bulbs with Hid (High Intensity Diode) direct bulb will cause any harm to the instrument panel or wiring?? The website is http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.asp...e=LED&options=1 Please advice.
