  1. You may be able to fix it. Press the insert button then use a plastic fork/spoon handle and stick it in the slot. Try to push the CD all the way back in and turn off the unit and turn it back on. You may have to experiment with different combinations, but if nothing is broken you can fix it. -Robert
  2. I think its because the power is split 50/50 to front and rear, but when it gets to either the front or rear, the diffs there determine how that 50% is distributed to left or right wheel. -Robert
  3. congrats! I take mine off roading usually. When I mean off roading I mean short cuts over or through obstacles that get in my way ;) I did get stuck in mud for a few hours I wish these cars came with front and rear diff locks :( -Robert
  4. You mean the tail lights on the door that flip down? I have never done it but there are 2 screws on the side of the door. Take those off and ply the light cover off. If it is anything like the lights on the body of the car then it should just come put when you ply it after taking those 2 screws off. -Robert
  5. I am 99.99999% sure that thing isn't stock and was added afterwards by the previous owner. -Robert
  6. I hear the Bridgestone AT Revo's are good. Plan on getting those for my '99 when my current tires wear out. -Robert
  7. I also agree with Waag. I use to have one, but the one I have on it now is crap; don't remember who its made by. -Robert
  8. I was just thinking about this. Would it be possible to use the bluetooth system in the car to play mp3's from my laptop? I'm pretty sure the car system just uses the audio gateway protocol to send sound. A bluetooth enabled laptop has the same protocol and it can be used as your sound card output. Anything know if that would work? -Robert
  9. I also get the ticking. Almost 100% sure it is due to a cracked exhaust manifold. If that is the cause, a simple spot weld should close it right now. -Robert
  10. I used the screwdriver head on my swiss army knife to pry it out. Try to do a search on google for removing the LX radio. I remember seeing some pictures somewhere. Just try using a plastic fork handle to stick it in the slot to see if you can push the CD back. When you hear it moving around, it is trying to load/eject the disk but since it isn't where it's suppose to be, the mechanics get caught on the jammed CD. How did this happen? Did you run over a bump and it stopped working? -Robert
  11. Is the CD player broken or just jammed? If it is just jammed you can fix it yourself by using a plastic fork, spoon or fork handle to push it back in or use a pair of forceps to pull it out. If you are still bent on taking it out, youll have to pry it out from the top, side and bottom of wood trim. -Robert
  12. Could it be the heatshield for the catalytic converter? The shield on mine rattles at around 1800rpm. Can't feel it but can definately hear it. If that is the case, you can have it spot welded. I plan on using some gum ;) -Robert
  13. What is the warranty that came with the '99 Lx470? My parents lost the warranty paperwork and have no idea what it is I am asking because my car has a cracked exhaust manifold and want to know if warranty will cover it. Also the steering column rumbles a bit when retracting (was told due to a flaw in metallurgic composition + grease) My car is at about 46k miles write now. My next service appointment at the dealer is at 51k. Thanks, Robert
  14. don't forget: it will also void your warranty if the dealer really wants to be rotten: if any electrical problems in your car shows up, they could deny any warranty work saying your hack caused it -Robert
  15. I just took a picture of it with my phone Here ya go:
  16. sounds like the nozzle is gone. A black cube like thing is suppose to come out of that hole. -Robert
  17. I just registered my car at the Lexus Owner's website so I could get online versions of the manual. There was a quick reference guide for the navigation system. I thought the 99's didn't have navigation? -Robert
  18. The condition of the smaller devices and toys is going to depend on the previous owner. Hopefully, the owner was the kind that doesn't know jack *BLEEP* about all the features in their cars and never bothered them, or at least someone who respected and took care of the toys. Even then, the toys are well built. My parents abused my LX for 2.5 years before they gave it to me and everything still works perfectly! The power train warranty should be fine. I'm pretty sure the LX quality is equal if not better then the Land Cruiser. They are technically the same company anyways. -Robert
  19. WOW! Luxeon LED's, those things are hella bright! I was going to suggest LED's, but had no idea there were kits availible. I thought the only way to use LED's in the LX would be to mod some up by yourself. I use to sell cheaper LED's and some customers told me that they did mod their car intertior to take them. LED's is the future in lighting. Some cars use them as tail lights. -Robert
  20. Congrads on the soon to be car! I recommend this product for the leather: http://www.leatherique.com/prod01.htm I've used it on my car and it did wonders. Some of the leather was a little beyond repair, but that oil did help it some. Since its about 51k miles, check to see if you need new tires soon. I plan on getting new tires soon and I'll be getting the Bridgestone Dueler AT. The only problem I have with my car is that the heat shield on the catalytic converter is a little loose and rattles at 1800rpm. I plan on fixing it by trying to put some gum or adhesive to close the small gap so it wont rattle. -Robert
  21. How easy is it to flip a LX470 on a turn? I've done some pretty sharp turns at around 30-40mph and no real problems. When I do turns like that I will always turn the wheels the opposite direction a bit before turning them to the direction I want to go. That seems to help keep the car from tilting. I also have the suspension set on normal. Thanks, Robert
  22. I'm from Elkins Park, PA; not that far from you Being up in Boston I think maybe the reason. They may use alot more salt in the winter time. edit: I have alittle bit of rust on some screws and a bit on the underside, but nothing serious or so ugly that something has to be done about it. Be sure you hose off your car all over after winter is over to get rid of any salts and etc. -Robert
  23. check out www.tirerack.com I plan on getting the Bridgestone Dueler AT for my LX470 in afew months -Robert
  24. $20 for a grill? I wouldn't trust it. Not sure about the LX450, but for the LX470's the grill is chrome underneath. I just used paint stripper and stripped off the black paint. It looks like this now B) -Robert
