  1. Might be the heat shield on the catalytic converter. Mine vibrate and buzzed around 1800 rpm. I used some epoxy and glued some of the loose edges on the shield so it wouldn't vibrate so much, that helped a bit. -Robert
  2. I am pretty sure the suspension automatically does minor adjustments depending on things like weight and speed. The active height control system is for low normal and high mode. Low mode only works when the car is not in motion and high only works under 18mph. If you do not meet the conditions while you are in those modes, the car will automatically go back into normal mode. -Robert
  3. The heat sheilds would be installed under the car, not in the cabin. There purpose is to block the heat before it even gets into the cabin. -Robert
  4. Just measured my car and the driver front side is 1/2 inch lower then the passenger front side. I'm going to try to change the height a few times to see if it corrects itself. -Robert
  5. My dad use to have a '97 land cruiser and he rear ended some guy. The guy's trunk was smashed in while the cruiser itself took no damage. The only thing that happened was the bolts on the brush guard got a lil loose and bent ^_^ About a year ago during that blizzard my mom was going about 60mph on a curve and lost control of my '99 LX. The LX went into those big metal guard rails. No frame or engine damage. Just had the fender, headlamp, and brush guard replaced with some minor sheet metal work on the hood and wheel arch panel. I've been rear ended by several people and nothing happened to my car. I love that tow hitch that sticks out the back :D Too bad the newer LX's dont have the tow hitch sticking out like that. This may sound crazy, but my parents don't have collision insurance on my LX. Their rationale is that the cost of repairing damage to the LX is cheaper then paying collision insurance over the life of the car. I kind of agree since paying for the repair on my LX was definately cheaper then if we had paid for collision insurance over all that time. I definately feel safe in my LX and wouldn't trade it for anything (well maybe a new LX :D) -Robert
  6. Yes they are. I don't think it is required to take out the left assembly but i did anyways. As for the right assembly, the battery was in the way so I took it out so I wouldn't have to worry about the battery. The body panel around the light was a pain to get off. You have to find where they snap in and use something to carefully pry them off. -Robert
  7. Sweet! I love the waag brush guard. I use to have one on my LX, but after my mom's accident my parents told the repair shop to install the cheaper manik guard :(. -Robert
  8. If the fluid looks okay, then have you tried to change the vehicle height with the height control yet? If not, try changing it from low to normal to high and back a few times. Maybe that will flush out what ever it is. A question for 2GZ: What do the accumulators do? Do they control the upward and downward motion of the suspension on a bump? -Robert
  9. Woot!! Got mine in and installed them. I definately noticed a difference, but was hoping for more :D Wish I had also bought a pair to match my high beams, but I am kind of low on money right now so maybe in the future. I am also thinking about also replacing my fog lamps but not sure whether to go silverstars or something yellow. I took some pics, but they were with my camera phone :( (still have to get a new digi cam) They are on my moblog on the 8th of April: http://1337haxor.textamerica.com -Robert
  10. Yeah, check and see if its contaminated. If it is kind of dark haze to it or particles in it, thats bad but all you have to do is flush the system out. That is much cheaper then the accuators. -Robert
  11. Yeah, as long as you don't become overconfident and think you can 0wn nature, youll be fine. Only if our cars had rear and front locking diffs. -Robert
  12. Sounds like something is really wrong with the suspension. Is the bounce the same on bumpy and smooth roads? or is the bouncing just magnefied on bumpy roads and less on smooth roads. What about when you accelerate, brake, or stationary? -Robert
  13. Can you be more descriptive? are the roads bumpy? Is the bouncing rough or somewhat smooth? Have you checked the suspension settings to see if its on soft or hard? -Robert
  14. I heard that its near impossible to mod the '04 without breaking something. I guess they really don't want people messing with their nav system. I think the nav system now checks multiple things to confirm conditions that allow you to use the system and not just one little wire sensing the speed. -Robert
  15. On my '99 LX I never go under 91. I usually put 93 in it though. The '99 engine and '04 engine should be almost identical. -Robert
  16. Awesome! So are the low beams 9006 or H1? I am kind of confused since the sylvania site says that it uses H1 or something while the manual has both H1 and 9006?!? -Robert
  17. You mean low range? I have used my LX in snow since it has snowed pretty badly here in Philly. I feel that it is a capable vehicle in the snow. If you ever get stuck, you should first try the center diff lock and then try low range. I've always kept it in high range in the snow. You do plan on staying on roads right? Just becareful and you'll be fine. -Robert
  18. What is that metal plate that covers the oil drain plug called? I need to order a new one for my car since it is missing. Thanks, Robert
  19. Is the AC system part of the nav? If so that you may have to unplug the AC controls and hook it up to the nav system. I have no idea if it is plug and play. -Robert
  20. I hear that it is hella expensive to buy the nav system. Your best bet is to look for it on ebay or try to salvage it from a junk yard. You should be able to install it if you can get your hands on one. -Robert
  21. Thanks I marked it on my calender in case I decide to show up. -Robert
  22. Never been to one of these, not sure if I should go since my car isn't really modded + its an SUV. I'll have to think about it and try to find some buddys that can come as well. -Robert
