ok that post anout 95 got me scared.......
i was about to do the timing belt also but this post made me have some second thoughts
-
i know, but this engine is from japan, he got a half of the car from there, the motor for USA comes only with one turbo, whole this engine has 2 of them
-
ive never seen a car where you have to remove half of the engine just to change spark plugs and wires, i even hated it for a little while. to replace 8 plugs takes a lot of time and energy, but i guess its worht it, will test drive tomorrow and also change fuel filter, too tired now and its too late
-
caps and wires looked like they have never been changed, i checked at the dealer the car was at the dealersip last time at 60k and changed only spakr plugs and filters, cables were 6 years old originals
timing belt as well shows wear and aging, will replace this or next weekend
-
happy me at the end of it, ready to go home

just changed the caps rotors wires and spark plugs and it took me 4 hours.......
what can i say, lexus likes to built their cars complicated, same work took me 40 mins on my brothers legend. here i had to take serpentine belt and a pulley in order to be able to get to one of the rotor caps!!!! and i had to take whole intake system off in order to get to the spark plugs om the right side. too tires to work on pix right now, will post only couple:)
the rest comes tomorrow:)

i have a slight problem with my car. it vibrates a lot when i drive between 80-90 mph, before and fater the car is fine but at 85 mph whole car is shaking. i changed tires and did wheel alighnment and it didnt help. what else could cause this?
-
i'm facing the same problem, rite now as as you can c in the other topic i created i decided to do it myself, only parts cost me total with everything around 800$ excluding labor. and i still dont know if i got all the parts i need. so stay tuned for updates.
-
we did, its really cool what he did to his car, i wish i would have guts to do this to mine. with i6 engine it is much easier to do all the upgrades. much more space under the hood :)
-
i dont know any local stores i would trust with my tranny, i used to have chrysler concorde and my tranny died couple of times while the tranny was on warrany, once it died rite in the store when i came to pick up the car:)
how much would dealer charge for this procedure?
-
as soon as he will get the GS, he has to sell his TT supra first. i cant wait myself to check this out, those guys are real car enthusiasts, they have sentras with 400hp in i4 engines and bucn of supras and acuras with all kinds of gadgets installed. like in fast and furious movie. they spend all their money on their cars and work mostly for them. btw that is the guy who will help me do my timing belt.

whats the difference between sinthetic and semi sinthetic? also which oil would u recommend for use in hot and humid new york climate?
-
10x! will get that in autozone, hope that have it, i ahev to go there to rent a special tool to pull the biggest pulley:)
-
yeah, you dont even have to change the engine, there is enuff space under the hood of GS to put 2 TTs in there, my friend is currently starting this project. so far he started to look for an alsmost dead gs 300 1998 and up. he will rebuild and turbocharge the engine.
-
its the engine type that we have, Gs 400 models have the same engine with some slight modifications that give them 10 hp more starting 1998. supra engines are 1jzgte, t means turbocharged and lexus gs and is have i6 engine 2jzge
-
mine are brand new lexus pads as well, i'm going to the shop that changed and mashined my rotors and i will let them deal with it.
-
should i do a tune up for my stransmission or i should not? that is the big question. i dont know when and if the previuos owner ever changed the oil in transmissino. but it smells burned from there when i check the oil. i know it might die if i will change the oil now. or it will not on lexus. i have a big lack of knowledge regarding this. any help would be greatly appreciated
-
they have specific overhaul procedures for 1uzfe? like heavy maintentance and rebuilt?
my cd had this but.. for the engine with chain. i mean its still a toyota book but kinda strange and way too broad for me
-
there are some companies that make a new leather for seats, do search online to find em
-
you dont have to buy a users manual, just to go lexus site and register with them, they have option to request a free manual from them
just do this and you will get it in 2-3 weeks.
-
here is an invoice with all the part numbers, lexus changed all the part numbers so i cant find em on toyota sites.....
-
