not yet, still waitin for my rim to arrive, then i will swtich it with that rear left and drive on a highway. btw use some of that liquid wrench on ur caliper, thats what i did when it got stuck, workin fine since then. i have a good store in brooklyn where i usually do my repairs. if you are close to brooklyn you can step by and let them check it out.in jersey i saw some shops in the union/elizabeth/kenilworth area but i never used them.

toyota dealres cant do lexus anymore, lexus changed all the part numbers:( i tried that recently, as to mashine (resurface) your rotors, you can do that in a regular shop, it is only 10$ per rotor, but this might not be enuff, there is a special unti sqeekin spring on the brake pad. it might be defective, or may be its time to get new pads:)

i dont think 1990 was more complicated then LS:) plus when you are young you look at things differently. i had it when i was 18, 7 years ago
-
i had couple of cars including M3 before, LS is the hardest:)
i didnt know where to start or what to do. considering that i used to work in the shop and have some experience i was scared to start:)
-
they dont know stuff about lexus, not many of em even want to deal with serious lexus repairs.......
and 99% dont have that manual. so you have to take your chanses with them as well.....
not all of them will assume the resposibility
-
this is what i did. but i did it myself, save lots of money, even moy local guy told me 375$ only for timing and pulleys and water pump. so check that do it urself site:)

there is a caliper overhaul kit available from lexus for price around 30-40$
check it out at ur local dealer. OEM part number 0447950102

yeah, get DENSO iridium plugs on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=1467&rd=1
then get new cable set from newlexusparts and get fuel and air filter as well. dont forget to get some original toyota oil filters, you can get couple of each to save on shipping and change them from time to time. fuel filter every 30k
spark plugs and cables - every 60k
air filter - check on its condition from time to time.
you should definelty go for that money saving scenario, get timing belt, water pump and if your engine is makin whining noise around 800 rpms then get timing tensioner and pulleys(left and right). you can even get a very good online manual at www.alldatadiy.com for 25$ and check what you can do urself and what you cant. print it out and bring it to your mechanic to make his job easier and to reduse the risk of doin smth wrong

the smell is outside of the car in the garage when i stand next to the car. the radiator is ok, i didnt even add fuel for last couple of month and its still on the same max level. as to AC smell yeah it smells like old sox when i turn it on and replacin the air filter for AC didnt help. but its a different story. i will deal with bacterias as well
-
strange thing with AC, i have around 130k on mine and ac blows air so cold that even with 90-100 degrees outside it is gettin cold in 5 mins. no leaks whatsoever (knock on wood). only pulleys and water pump starting to make noise but i'm going to change them in 1-2 weeks. as to the rest of the problems i think they are unusual for an ls with that kind of mileage

my advice dont get those cheap mtx subs, all they gonna give you is vibration, but no clear crisp bass. whole car is gonna vibrate making all those noises and screeches. also you can go to bestbuy and buy a dynamat from them for 100$ and they gonna do free install of it. this dynamat thing will take off a little of that vibration if you will still want to put those MTX

i have a 96 Ls and 91 legend, paint on legend is much brighter then on LS, plus i got some overspray on LS after repaining my fender, any1 knows how to get rid of it? compound and clay bar helped, but i still got some left
-
i did the stereo setup in the Legend and it sounds much better then original nakamichi system in LS.
i installed 2 tweeters on the dash, 2 6.25 speakers in front doors and 2 6x9 speakers on the back, front ones are aound 260w pair and rear ones are 350W a pair. those 6 speakers are powered but 4 channel 800W pioneer amp. all speakers are pioneer as well. oh and i got a 1 farad capacitor as well to compensate the shortages. another 800 1 way pioneer is powering 2 12 inch dual voice coil rockford fosgate woofers. in a custom box. the head unit is alpine CD receiver with 2 preams and 2 sub output. whole setup is worht around 800$ with self install. so far i'm happy with nakamichi system in the lexus and if im in the mood for some loud music and ruff drivin i use legend with whole music thingie and manual tranny:)
AS to the dash kit, none of the shops here in brooklyn have em. i checked around 8 of them. but some of them offer to create a custom one but i doubt it will be a good one. ive seen one of those "creations" in a first gen LS. no good.

Every time i start my car i can smell a very strange smell while its heatin up. i dont even know how to describe the smell. smth like a !Removed! but with sweetness. it appears only for 1-2 mins and then its gone until the next cold start.
what could that be? catalist?
-
u change it every 30k or around. as to location its located very incoveniently, you have to lift the car and dont forget to open the fuel tank to releive the pressure. it took about 20 mins to change it and i lost around half of the gallon of fuel doin this:)
-
if you didnt notice on a cold engine ur RPMs are around 1500. while normal RPMs are 700-800. thats y it takes off pretty fast. as to the normal drive, your transmission was not built to handle that sport driving, and ur transmission ECU was not programmed to handle those fast switches. thats not that type of tha car.. what you can do is try to drive on 3, instead of D in the city, that might help a lil. otherwise get youserlf a legend with stick. thats my second car. its comfy and fast but LS still can bean mostly any1 on a highway.

in my case i just had to turn the cell phone off by pressin a button on it. i dont know may b you guys have a different model...
-
because of the vibrations i got around 80 mph
suspension is fine and so are tires, so it leaves only rims
-
they bend at the end on mine, but on gen I they have crome tips from the factory
-
i have those crome tips on mine generation II LS, take a look at the pic in the gallery

i know that one of my rims is bent, how do i figure out which one?
-
you take tweeters out and check how many W and how many ohms they are capable of handing. i cant pull any info about them:(
